"packed with features, but not very reliable or stable" on by vegcrow
Pros: biometric security, bright screen, tons of memory, flip cover, bluetooth plus 802.11b
Cons: turns itself on and drains battery to death, can't be trusted, locks up too often
Summary: My HP iPaq 4155 was stolen, and it was rock-solid. I upgraded to the hx2750 for the security features. All other features were the same as on the 4155. But this one seems to freeze up way too often. I have to do many hard resets, and often the hard resets fail, requiring more resets. The WORST thing is that it keeps turning itself on for reminders and such, and twice already it has turned itself on and stayed on until the batteries went completely dead, regardless of the "turn off after XX minutes" setting. Now I have to do full backups to feel safe, rather than just syncing it with Outlook. The 4155 was a superior product (minus the fingerprint scanner) but it's no longer available. I will not buy another hx2750. It just isn't worth the money for a product which gives me such low confidence. I really wanted to love this product (especially after sinking so much money into it) but I just can't trust it.

Prior to recently leaving HP as an employee I thoroughly evaluated this product since I had a heavy discount opportunity thought the HP Employee Purchase Program. But I was disappointed that HP did not put a VGA display resolution into the hx2750/2755. I considered the hx4700 but for the price I would avoid it because the hx4700 does not have Microsoft Windows Mobile 2005 (why spend $$$$$ for an outdated OS?), and so now I am off looking at the Dell Axim X51v which satisfies both my desire for a full VGA display resolution, and having the latest version of Microsoft Windows Mobile 2005, for such new wonderful features as displaying Power Point slides on the handheld device. As for HP Outsourcing, I rather not speak my mind until I receive my HP severance payout, but I think it appears that HP management ultimately wishes have not a single USA based engineer designing their products. If you want to BUY a “designed in America” device then go to another source!!! Lastly, aside from all that I have said above, I would not qualify this HP device as worthy of purchase if for no other reason then of the reports of a flaky power on (unwanted power on) situation. Yes, maybe it is a simple bios fix. But I do not see such reports with the Dell Axim X51v series. You expect more from a device after spending BIG dollars!!! It appears in the handheld market that for sure Dell is more “invent”ive. Lastly, it is a Friday night and at this moment the “www.dell.com” site is up and taking orders and the “hpshopping.com” site is down for maintenance. If you are superstitious, then let that be a pre-order omen (warning) for you before you make your next HP handheld purchase!
