"waste of money" on by brownanme
Pros: mobile 5.0, decent pocket pc stuff
Cons: glitches, lock ups, just poor everything
Summary: If you are looking to buy...don't. It seems like everyone has had problems. In fact, I signed up to Cnet, just so I could post this.
I bought this as an impulse buy, and it may have just taught me a lesson! It has locked up, and I have had to reset it 3 times a day on average...no kidding. After I spent all day syncing my music to it, it decided that all the music wasn't certified, and I had to do it all over. I have had to clean boot it about 5 times so far, and this last time I decided to update it with a patch from the Mio website. Well, now I can't even turn it on. It locks up at the boot screen. And I can't get it to clean boot or anything now. It is now just an extremely expensive paper weight. If you are looking to buy, I can't say it enough, please don't waste your money. -
"Average may be good for the price" on by tomwins76
Pros: Cheap,Attractive fetures
Cons: GPS reciver is not as smart as it is clamied it may need an external antenna
Summary: I used this for about 6 months. The advantages are
1 Sturdy nothing happens even if youdrop it
2 Cheap
3 In built Bluetooth,wireless
4 Good customer care
Disadvantages
1 The GPS may struggle with out an external antenna
2 Screen is not very good, very cheap look
I got the unit replaced after the antenna socket brokedown. The unit became useless as it did not pick any GPS signals with out the external antenna. They replaced it immediately with out any problems
Now i use a Tom Tom GO 910 which is much much better with signal reception.
Conclusion
If you want to use this for navigation then it is not a clever idea to buy this -
"Quality fair but a glitch ruins everthing" on by toshikuat
Pros: Good Wi-fi and bluetooth. Handy and light weight
Cons: Power glitch cause Miomap malfunction
Summary: I had this device for 1 week and already caused so much problem, from power outage, malfunction map, until it severely transfered a bug that crashed my laptop. I tried and tested everything that they offered inside of this device and it worked perfectly well, but after a couple of days, I realized that the power was often shut down by itself, then I had to manually slid the master on/off button. When I looked it up into their website, there was patch that I assumed will fixed this problem. WRONG!!! It caused disaster, and completely crashed the MioMap. Then I called the tech support. Geeez, I never realized that Mio is a small company who couldn't hire people to answer a phone call and kept directing me to a voice mail. Until 3 message phone calls, 2 emails, for half a day, finally a miraculous voice answered the phone. They just simply admitted there was a glitch and the patch caused problem. What were they thinking! They should have tested the patch before they released it. They promised a paperwork for service over the email, until now they haven't emailed me back. Best advice for those who want to buy this device, "Beware! It maybe cheap, but it will be expensive to buy a blood pressure medicine!"

"Stay away from this product!!!" on by arvin75
Pros: Nice Unit ...with Wifi/Bluetooth capability
Cons: Too many glitches
Summary: I was attracted to this unit because of the GPS feature with wifi capability. I have had my unit for a week now and it's been nothing but a headache. The first couple of days was great. I thought I had a really good deal. Then all of sudden, I have issues with the power. The screen goes into power saving mode after 3 seconds of none use although I have set it to do that for 5 minutes. I got around this problem by turning the timed power saver off! Couple days after that glitch, I am now having problem with the GPS signal itself. I am constantly loosing GPS signal. I called the Tech support today and all they have asked me is to "reset" the unit when this happens. I was told to call back if this problem persist. I wish I had bought GARMIN instead.

"I LOVE MY MIO!" on by anyathegreat
Pros: GPS never loses sats, Win Mobile 5 is fantastic, styling is lovely and it does everything i need it to do.
Cons: wifi reception is rather weak compared to ipaq, gps slow to initialize on startup.
Summary: I have had nothing but good luck with my p550. It has excellent gps and pda functions brilliantly. Read cnet's nasty reviews and joined just to defend my beloved new toy.
