Pros ability to adjust bass level by opening/closing a port
Extremely well made appear to be fairly rugged
No amp needed (efficient)
Cons not very stylish (even with the custom plates)
do not fold or turn so not very portable
need to be broken in (40-50 hrs)
Summary !st - Word of advice to all the new and potential owners. These headphones do not sound very good, brand-new straight out of the box. They absolutely should be broken in. Once you go through that process, you'll havee a wonderful, versatile set of headphones..
These cans play everything well . I listen to a wide variety of music and the sound and detail is fantastic. I tried these with my iphone 4 and while the sound was extremely good, I have found that an external portable amp really produces a good sound.
They are so solid and well made. I feel that if I threw them against tithe wall they would continue without any problems.
Finally the kicker is the adjustable bass port. It makes a HUGE difference. You can take almost all the bass out or you can add it in for different increments depending on your taste
Pros Customizable look
Great customizable bass
Works great with portable devices
Good noise isolation
Cons To bulky to be considered portable
Not enough accessories yet
Mids don't come out too well
Summary I really love these headphones and am only really disappointed with the small choice of accessories you can get.
The bass is great and the slider works better than expected.
Yes, I agree these are more for bass heavy music, but if you close the bass ports other genres sound quite good too.
They are a little bulky to carry around and having them around your neck really does feel a little like a neck brace.
There have been a couple complaints about heat building up, but I think as long as you don't wear them at lunch in the middle of July it will be fine (I admit I've only been using them since this last fall, so maybe I can't quite judge that yet)
In the end you just have to have the right kind of music library if you are buying these. If you do you'll love them as much as I do.
Pros Nice construction
Good bass, which is highly adjustable
Good sound isolation
Cons The mids sound too resessed, especially the upper mids.
Ear pad get very hot
To big and bulky to travel around
Clamping pressure can make the headphones uncomfortable.
Lack of customised parts currently available
Summary I have to say that I was a little disappointed with these headphones. The sound is ok, better than Beats or similar but they didn't really live up to the reputation of other Beyerdynamic headphones. I am a fan of the bass ports but the mids are too recessed. They do take some time to burn in but do get better over time
I would recommend anyone who buys these headphones to also buy a velour ear pad. The prether pads just get extremely warm. I travelled around London for a day wearing the Custom One Pro's and they are not comfortable to travel around wearing. Mainly due to the heat build up but also because they cannot be warn around the neck at all,due to their size.
I have had these headphones for just over 3 weeks and have not fallen in love with these headphones, I regret not buying the V Moda M80's or the Focal Spirit Ones. Both of which have lass base but a more rounded sound. They also come with more extra, such as iphone cable and case.
Pros The headphones are comfortable
The noise isolation is good.
If you listen to bass heavy music this is the way to go.
The ability to customize bass is a pretty cool feature.
Cons The vocal reproduction in genres such as classical music etc. was not that impressive.
I find them to be too limited to bass heavy music.
Summary These headphones are very good performers but only in a few genres of music.
If you live in a world of bass heavy music then you will love these.
If you listen to a wide variety of music then look at something like the DT770's.
