"Excellently Flawed" on by n3m3s1s.f0x
Pros: Good sound, nice flat response range
Cons: Flawed design, susceptible to distortion
Summary: I have owned 7 (Yes, seven) pairs of these wonderful headphones. I love the clarity of the sound and the very even frequency response. The only problem with the sound is that the base can distort at very high volume levels. Not a major flaw. But these have been replaced six times by Bose, three times after they claimed they fixed the "manufacturing defect." If you have an average-sized head or greater, the slides WILL break from day-to-day usage. Bose customer service can't be beat, however, and after I brought these in for my eighth trade I decided to give the QuietComfort 2's a try instead. I love those too, but the required battery is a minus, not to mention the sound, while having really good, warm, clear bass, is lacking treble definition (and I'm usually sensitive to lots of treble). They can be pushed to uncomfortable volumes without distorting or losing their clarity, however, which is a noticeable improvement in that department over the TriPorts.
My suggestion is to not pay any attention to these, and go to another brand or go right to the QuietComfort 2's. These will just make you wish you had bought the QC 2's, and then subsequently wish that that those QuietComfort2's could match the flatter response of these TriPorts. A thoroughly depressing situation from two otherwise exceptional products. If Bose would simply design a new TriPort that didn't put all the pressure of wearing them on two pieces of plastic 1mm by 1mm by 2mm, these would be my preferred choice, especially for the money. Unless noise-cancelling is a factor for you. -
"Bose Quality is Excellent, as usual" on by EricM770
Pros: Lightweight, sound great
Cons: Headband a little thin
Summary: I don't understand why people bash these headphones so much (except headband.) People complaining about sound quality not being good. Let me remind the people, these are HEADPHONES, not a 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 home theater system, these do not have a subwoofer, these are not a speaker system, these are HEADPHONES. No one should expect home theatre performance out of headphones. These headphones deliver excellent sound. Great bass and treble. These headphones are not presumptious, promising home theatre sound, they deliver what they say they deliver. And they do live up to Bose quality, which is excellent. I have a Bose car system as well, and I say that Bose is not all hype, Bose does what they say they do, and that is deliver great sound in small spaces. Due to these headphones, I have heard some sounds in my music I'd never even noticed before, little notes previously unnoticeable. I recommend these to anyone. In addition, I recommend Bose products to anyone.

"Superb built and awesome sound experience" on by liorn
Pros: Detailed bass, detailed mids, and treble is never harsh, superb built, headphones rotate up/down/in/out and sideways swivel, ultimate comfort ever experienced
Cons: Pricy, but worth every dollar, should not be tossed on the ground or smashed into a wall, otherwise may break (not made of titanium, but firm enough to enjoy for years if your not clumsy
Summary: Best headphones I've ever bought or will buy.
Before buying them, I evaluated 4 other pricy models that are top rated this year or other brands, and these, even though are not ragged, meaning not bullet proof, but superbly built, will give you a movie like experience with a feeling the sound and background effects and music is there with almost no ability to identify you are wearing them. I bought the silver model, just as preference of color. -
"This is a GREAT set and Customer Service Rocks!!!!!" on by EastCoastTech
Pros: Sound quality and customer service
Cons: Build could be stronger
Summary: I have a 4 year old set of the triports. I have compared them to similarly priced Sennheiser’s and Bose blows them away. I took the time to write this because of the Bose customer service I received today. My current unit needed new ear cushions (normal wear and tear), which is a $37 orderable part from Bose. The tech offered me 2 options, 1. Buy the ear cushions for $37 or for $60 send in the old pair and receive a brand new pair of the triports. I mentioned to the tech that I cracked the plastic around the head band long ago and option 2 sounded best for me. I was then completely taken back at what happened next. The tech apologized that this had happened (imagine that!) and offered to send a new pair out for $30 because of my troubles. Bose values me as a customer and I will now become completely loyal to them for life.

"I love these!" on by reauxban
Pros: I play drums with these on. They are the best for the money I have found in 30 years of playing. Light. Confortable.
Cons: I wish they came with a better case for travel.
Summary: Buy these! I paid $150 at Best Buy.
