Pros The noise cancelation is simply stunning. When I flipped the switch on in my last flight, there was nothing but dead silence--I simply couldn't hear the plane at all. Sound quality is much improved as well--it is balanced out now!
Cons The outside mic/sensors picked up the sound of the air blowing on me from above my seat. A minor inconvenience though. I'm not crazy about the case design--it does fit in my briefcase easier, but seems cheaper too. Silver; not gold plane adapter!
Summary I've owned both QC2's and 3's and a variety of noise-canceling clones...this one does what no other model has done. I repeat, the noise-canceling on this is simply stunning. The sound quality much improved. Even the slight angle change on the cups and the thickness of the cups makes this a no-brainer. Yes, it's $300, but you are getting what you paid for and will simply not be disappointed! I'm a hard-sell...this one wins the prize.
Pros The exterior sound dampening is excellent, like going into a black hole, nice carrying case.
Cons I have had 4 sets of these headphones, one set couldn't play high notes, so much for quality control, on 2 sets they broke on the headband and the last on the thin plastic cup yokes, so good sound but very poor build quality.
Summary The broken parts could easily be repaired with cheap spare parts by replacing the yokes, but, amazingly, Bose don't do spare parts, I was offered a trade in at £150, considering I have not managed to have a satisfactory set for longer than a year, I think not.
Excellent sound quality and battery life, awful standard of build strength, these are supposed to be used by travellers and should have more strength built into them. The should keep a stock spare parts for these easily broken items. At well in excess of £240 a pair most definitely not worth the money.
Pros Makes airline cabin noise go away! no more worry about sitting close to someone with a crying baby or going deaf from jet noise. When you add music or entertainment to the mix they take you away to another place and you tend to forget where you are.
Cons I have a hard time wanting to say these have a con but if I had to. I would say that the need to have them powered on to listen to music is annoying. With that said Auto power Off would be a nice addition.
Summary These are AWESOME! the sound is clear and crisp when listening to any type of audio. Have noise you want to block out just consider it gone. When using ear protection I usually have ringing in my ears but when using these I hear nothing and it is great.I selected 5 stars but somehow it is showing 4??? I vote 5 Stars.
As I sit here in the airport writing this I have them on and listinging to music and the noise of the terminal is gone and it is a little creapy watching people running around and knowing that just outside the headphones is loud crazy airport madness.
I could actually go take a nap.
I do agree from other reviews that when I first put them on and activate the noise cancelling I have a false sense of pressure on my eardrums but after a few moments it goes away and when I have music on I feel nothing.
I have found new enjoyment in all of my music and can hear things that have never heard before like background noise in the recording studio when the track was recorded. If you are thinking of buying these and are not sure you want to cough up the money you can go to the Bose website and have them take small monthly payments with your prefered debit or credit card and a small down payment later you will have these shippet right to your door. Pay for the extra shipping and you get them in less than 2 days. If you dont like them you have 30 days to send them back for a full refund. These are worth every penny for the piece of mind.

Also when you get these buy the Cell phone kit and these will work double duty and block out noise when on phone calls. I have tested these in loud environments with the phone kit and not only can I hear the call clear but the person I am talking to can hear me loud and clear as well. I use a Jawbone most of the time for phone calls and people talking to me said I sound better with the bose phone kit. Go figure.
Pros Very good sound cancellation and comfortable on long trips.
Cons Sound not nearly as clear as headphones without sound cancellation. I use the Sony MDR-V6's for normal listening and the QC15's don't come close. The whole frequency range is muddy by comparison.
Summary Having given my criticisms I still like using them on long flights because there is so much noise that the poor sound of the QC15's is OK...really. Bose puts out a lot of hype about how revolutionary and "life-like" their sounds systems are and they fail miserably when compared to other systems. I went to their factory store in Petaluma CA and subjected myself to the 10 minute demonstration film in their small theatre. Pretty ridiculous!! It was so loud that I had to hold my ears just to get through it and the sound was not life-like at all...actually quite the opposite. The reason I'm writing this is to warn people that Bose likes to say their sound systems are the best and greatest, etc. but it's just hype....that being said the QC15's are still great to have for long trips and nothing...in spite of the mediocre sound.
Pros Blocks most noise, is surprisingly comfortable, has a great battery life, very sturdy and Boise has a great warranty (when my first pair broke after 3 months they replaced it no questions asked).
Cons A little bulky to carry around, weird noise if you lay down with them on but the music off.
Summary I love my QC15s! I have had them for close to 2 years and I don't think I could live without them anymore. They are surprisingly comfortable and light although they get hot if you wear them for a long time. They block a lot of background noise I often put them on with the cord taken out when I stuck in loud places. The downside is that if you lay down putting pressure on the ear cups with music off but the headphones on you get a weird high pitched noise but it's barely noticeable and far better then it was for the original QC and QC2 (my father owned both pairs and I used both extensively). If you want great comfortable noise canceling headphones you should get these headphones however, if you only want audiophile quality headphones you may want to consider other headphones or at least try them before you buy,
