"Excellent neutral sound."4.0 starson by dalethorn2
Pros: Neutral balance, good bass and highs, good clarity.
Cons: Very thin cable.
Summary: Compared to Sennheiser 800, 650, 600, and PX100: Not as clear as the HD800, but much clearer than the PX100, and at least equal to the HD650 which costs twice as much. All of the 'phones I mention here, including the lowly PX100, have a fairly neutral overall balance throughout their range. So the essential difference as I hear it is the clarity - i.e. how much of the detail do you hear given the complexities of high-fidelity sound, and the P5 is on a par with any headphone I've used up to the $600 to $700 dollar range, and much better than average in the $300 range. To be fair, some of the "clarity" I hear in (for example) the Sennheiser HD800 could be due to the non-standard placement of the 800's driver units, so your mileage may vary.
