"Fantastic headphones"5.0 starson by CapnKrust
Pros: Well-balanced, shines in all sorts of musical styles, keeps out the noise (perfect for train and air travel).
Cons: A bit uncomfortable if you're wearing glasses after a while.
Summary: Really well balanced spectrum-wise, clean and precise sound, super comfortable, great for every style. Best set of cans I've owned so far.
Definitely not as boomy as the QCs (over the top) but the mellowness and warmth of the bass takes away the need to hide the music behind Dr Dre-type eardrum pounding. 50s-60s jazz sounds tremendous. Classical is just lovely, in good recordings you feel the concert hall's walls bouncing the sound. For pop / rock, you can appreciate details that other headphones don't always let you, such as the quality of the mastering, the instruments' breathing space towards one another... that good.
With each hour of listening I can feel them breaking in, getting mellower and warmer. Tried them through the iPod, mac audio output and blu ray fed Harman Kardon amp. Portable devices have their limits, but higher sample rate files really shine with the P5 headphones.
Only con, if you're wearing glasses, the pressure from the branches getting squeezed between your ears and skull can get a tad painful after a while. Solution: lift the branches a bit to clear them out of that pressure point.
