"Flimsy cord, poor fit" on
Pros: Standard downward-facing cords, unlike the Shure headphones, which look rather odd when in.
Cons: I know that these get good reviews, but I had no success making them fit correctly. I used every cover option and followed the rather complicated procedure exactly. Without being in completely, the bass was awful. The Shures fit much better, even with t

"Disappointed" on by slogans7
Pros: Blocks extraneous noise well
Cons: Zero bass, too trebly
Summary: I looked forward to receiving mine as I travel quite a bit and have used noise-cancelling headphones to make things a bit more bearable. The Etymotic seemed like a cost effective way to block out all noise and, according to reviews, enjoy music. Unfortunately, in spite of inserting the ear buds properly, I hear very little bass. Trebles and mids are very clear but the lower frequency evaporate. I'm sure my wife will enjoy wearing them at the gym, while my quest for noise cancellation and accuarte sound reproduction goes on.

"A Major disappointment -- get iPod in-ear instead" on by Wesvil
Pros: Nice balance; lightweight
Cons: Flat, with absolutely NO base
Summary: I must say I was looking forward to getting these, but WOW, what a disappointment! Fortunately, I bought them from a merchant that accepts returns. I'm honestly baffled by the rave reviews for these earphones. No amount of jamming into the ear canal succeeded in improving the (virtually nonexistent) base response, either with the flange or foam tips. For a fraction of the price, the iPod in-ear phones will give you much better performance.

"Where's the sound" on by cmbird33
Pros: Small, lightweight
Cons: No bass, cord tangles too easily
Summary: I purchased these after reading the CNET review. I have a $9 set of Sony's that sound much better than these. There is no bass. None. Yes they fit in your ear and do a marginal job of cancelling outside sounds,
but they are the worst sounding headphones that I have ever tried. I own several sets of headphones. The closet sound comparison I can make is the old transistor radio that had a single ear plug.
