"resonant sound at great price" on
Pros: clear deep bass; accurate imaging; fairly long cord with gold ends; great sound at great price
Cons: foam earpads a bit tacky and are falling off, though my pair is over eight years old. one side earpiece also falling off, guess its time for new or upgrade to sr80

"I disagree with cnet.." on by xmikeyyc
Pros: great clear sound, i personally love the retro look and sturdy wire with gold plug for good sound, i find it comfortable (yes i do),
Cons: bass could have been a lot better, sound leaks
Summary: After reading cnets review and a lot users review i finally decided to purchase the sr-60.
it seemed it was the right choice because:
1. its been rated many times to be the best headphones out there under $100
2. loved the look
3. wanted to buy great headphones that weren't bose
well overall im very impressed with the grados sound and quality, very clear and precise with a lot of detail. but ill have to admit, when i first purchased these headphones, i couldnt tell which sound i preferred: my $13.99 sony earbuds or these, i was a bit skeptical. but as i began to listen more with it and compare it with various other headphones, the greatness soon became clear
cnet says the grado-60 has a great bass but is uncomfortable. i disagree with both these claims. the grado 60 creates a very mediocre bass. i compared these with BOSE Tri-port. the bose has a great noise cancellation, and has a great thumping bass. this will be useful for those who listen to hip-hop, rap, and anything that uses heavy bass. however, keep in mind the bose tri-port costs around $150 while the SR-60 is $70. Thats DOUBLE the price! but disregarding price, i would still prefer the grado sr-60s sound:
-it has a much more crisp and detailed sound than the bose.
-it is more detailed and accurate with its sound
-watching a movie on your computer with the sr-60 is AMAZIINNNGGG!!! ull feel like your in the theaters
the bose tri-port sound muffled and is often -hard to make out the details
the comfort issue:
yes, you have probably seen this issue many times about the lack of comfort of the grados. well im going to tell you the truth! first off:the sr-60's cushion does not have a hole in it like its older brothers (sr-80 and on). at first the headphones wrapped on my ears really hard, and ill admit it did hurt after 15-20 minutes of use. BUT a simple adjustment of the metal wire will allow the headphones to rest loosely yet securely on your head. no big deal, i happened to find the cushions comfortable after this slight adjustment.
sound leak:
yes, the sound does leak, but i didnt find that to be a big deal, at medium level volume of your ipod, you can barely make out the words of songs
overall, great headphones, its strength is it clarity and detail in sound, NOT its bass. its comfort issue can be managed and is no biggy.
