"No discernible noice cancelling"
Pros: Good sound quality, comfortable earbuds
Cons: Active noise cancelling useless
Summary: Obviously the reviewer never tried these on an airplane. The United Airlines provided noise cancelling earphones clearly cut background noise, these did nothing. Other than the sound isolating properties of the earbuds, there was no difference in sound whether the noise cancelling was on or off. I would rate them higher if they were not billed as active noise cancelling earbuds.

I bought these "noise canceling" headphones and found they didn't cancel any noise whatsoever. A pair of $15 earbuds was just as good. I figured the unit was defective so JVC replaced it. Then I took the second unit on an airplane and found it was no different from the first--absolutely no noise canceled at all. I even took my Awai unit along for comparison just to be sure. This model is worthless--don't buy it.
