"Great performance for the price"
Pros: Great noise cancellation
Cons: Not the world's sexiest design
Summary: For another excellent and accurate review of the Logitech headphones you may want to go to ilounge, which is a site for ipod enthusiasts. I used that review as well as the CNET review when making my decision.
I'll just highlight some unique observations of my own, without repeating what others have already said.
There is some backgound hiss, but most of it is not from the headphones. I think some reviewers don't bother to see if the noise is from the headset or the device generating the music. I have tried the headphones not plugged into anything, plugged in and no music, and plugged in with music. 70% of the background hiss is noise from the device making the music (my laptop at work). Also there is some odd feedback click/clack that my laptop generates occasionally. It's definately the laptop, though. It's amazing what you notice when things are very, very quiet.
Another difference I have with many of the reviewers is using the device in the context for which it was intended. A review from office use doesn't do this type of product justice. I have used the headphones on several flights now (both jet and turboprop) and I am greatly impressed with the active noise reduction on these headphones. IT was the first time I ever successfully listened to anything on a turboprop.
Sound quality is pretty good, much better than my Sony in the ear, the standard ipod ear buds, or another set of mid grade ear buds I own. Judged as headphones alone, irrespective of noise cancelling, I would give them a solid B+. Take into account the noise cancelling and I'd give them an A-, take into account the price and they are an A+
Given the price point (can be had on sale for $99 at times) I give a strong recommendation.
