"DO NOT BUY THESE!!! Cheap Plastic, Exposed Wiring issues"
Pros: Comfortable Buds, Good Sounds Quality
Cons: Cheap Plastic, Exposed Wiring issues
Summary: Trust me. Trust me. Trust Me - Do buy these! I agree with all the reviews that say the sound is great and the buds are comfortable and it is cheaper than the higher rank ones. The issue I have with that is that they ARE cheaper, but, if you use them as often as I do, the cables get TANGLED up and are made of CHEAP PLASTIC and the WIRING GETS EXPOSED and eventually they become unusable. So, not I need to get new ones and pay more. Not so cheap after all. Only cheaply made.
I NEVER write reviews unless I feel strongly and I do. I called SONY and complained and got nothing back from them. Splurge for the better ones, because you're going to pay anyway!

I have these and there great,
if you use them all the time good for you,
but dont blame the earphones for your
poor care of them. -
look sound quality rocks, but you are right about the isolation, unfortunantly its because sony choose a light weight flexible rubber, to aid comfort. Unfortunantly they probably didn't realize that the case isn't very practicle for us on the go folk, so the rubber wears through eventually

Agree w/ rlazev's opinion and own two pair of these. Strangely enough, I used one pair for a couple of years, running and cycling with them and they're doing fine. The second pair, less than a year old, are close to being unuseable and the rubber insulation is wearing out in several places, especially where the insulation leaves the plastic earbuds.

The material for the lead coating is terrible.
Once damaged its surpirsing how quick the lead coating falls away from the wires. -
even though i've own these things for 6 months now, the wires are now exposed and rotting away. I expect more for what i pay for!!!
But i fixed it up with some gaffer tape. If u evr come to melb aus, looking out for a school student with a pair of MDR-EX71SL taped up with gaffer tape! LMAO fashion statement... -
I have several pairs of these and have had very good luck.
Best bang for the buck and can be had for about $28 if you shop around. -
I've had mine about 2 years now with absolutely no problems, maybe you're a little heavy handed? and I must tell you I'm not a fan of Sony but these appear to be a great value if you're looking for ear buds.

Well I do admit they are rather fragile and you should be careful with them if you want to prolong their life. The buds are a type of silicon which is why they're soft but also vulnerable to ripping, breaking, etc. And the wiring issues aren't really false, if you pull these a little too hard, you pull the cover over the wiring up/down. Still, these are decent and if treated well last somewhat long, I've had mine for about 5 months and nothing has gone wrong yet. Though it's probably because I treat them well.

I've had these for over a year and use them extensively everyday! The wires do not get tangled (and I scrunch them into my pocket the whole time), they haven't started falling apart and the sound quality is still perfect.
i'd guess you don't know how to look after your kit. -
Only the part with the earbuds is composed of the really soft plastic, and therefore easily torn after use. In my case it was little over a month of use. The extension is however fine and is made of a more sturdy plastic and is more tightly bound to the wiring. For those who want to keep using them i would suggest wrapping them in white plumbing tape which in my opinion seem to work better than the original plastic wrapping
