"What's with all these complaint's about durability?"4.0 starson by ericlol74
Pros: Sound quality, Design, Durability
Cons: Cord Tangle, Heavy, Difficult to clean, Paint Job
Summary: I don't understand where all these complaint's about durability are coming from. I've had these earbuds since January, and since then, they've seen almost daily abuse, at one point, I actually dropped my Ipod touch, and grabbed on the cord to prevent my ipod from hitting the ground. I thought I had ruined them, but I was surprised when there was absolutely no impact on the sound. Which, by the way, is pretty damn good, definitely justifies the price, clean highs and mids, however, the bass does leave something to be desired. But for me, somebody who has a very limited amount of hip hop on my music player, this is not much of a concern.
One of the biggest peeves for me is the weight of the product, while on one hand, the buds feel sturdy, and rather reassuring, they also fall out of your ears during minimal physical activity. Which can be quite annoying, I would not recommend these as a pair to go to the gym with.
The cord does tangle quite frequently, and this is another area of concern for me, every time I pull these out of my pocket, I spend at leas 30 seconds trying to untangle a mess of wires. Plus, what were they thinking when they decided to distinguish the right bud from the left bud with only a thin red or blue stripe around the ear piece? Makes discerning which bud goes where very difficult in low light situations.
Cleaning these things is also rather difficult, unlike apple's premium buds, where you can remove the mesh over the speakers and blow out whatever earwax may have accumulated, the mesh netting over these speakers is stationary. While this doesn't impact the sound quality, it's unsightly and probably unhealthy if you are going to let others use these buds. Plus, the gunmetal gray finish looks great, but will wear off over time, once again, this is merely aesthetic.
Yet, despite all these shortcomings, I'd with out a doubt, buy these buds again. Their sound quality, durability and design keep winning me over, and I feel like I'll still have these buds for quite a while. I'm no audiophile, I haven't used $1000+ headphones, however, I've tried almost everything in it's price range and under, and I can say with confidence, that the Monster Turbines stands head and shoulders above its peers.
