"Less than good performance"

2.5 stars  | on by pedroluis2

Pros

The Panasonic RP-HC101 is compact and the actual headphones are very comfortable.
it has good sound quality that is slightly better with the noise cancellation turn on. also you can use the noise cancellation
feature without music.

Cons

noise cancellation is minimal and only at lower frequencies. it works great on things like slight humming of air conditioning beyond that you wish you had better product. there is a very small hiss ( normal for noise cancellation devises) .

Summary

While the sound quality is good the noise cancellation not so great. the first thing I did was try what it advertise Noise cancellation, I soon found that this product was not worth the $63 I had spent. While the sound quality is good the noise cancellation not so great. the first thing I did was try what it advertise Noise cancellation, I soon found that this product was not worth the $63 I had spent. Noise cancellation is minimal ( low decibels) and only at lower frequencies ( example would be a refrigerator humming). It works great on things like slight humming of air conditioning beyond that you wish you had better product. There is a very small hiss ( normal for noise cancellation devises) . In addition this product it on ear headphones there for not allowing a good seal around your ears, this also means if you want to use it in combination with noise isolation ear buds your noise cancellation will diminish since there is no good seal. i would say that unless it the price reduces to about $20 this will not be a good buy, you will spend your money better if you buy yourself good noise isolating ear buds.

Ive been needing some headphones that don't wrap around the ear and are not ear buds. I use them with my netbook and they need to fit in the netbook bag. i found a lot of cheep headphones at the same price rang ($39-$79) as the PANASONIC RP-HC101 but they where either to big, uncomfortable, did not fold, super flimsy and most where a combination of all these. I am so happy with the the PANASONIC RP-HC101. some people are rating them against Bose or Monster Beats and thats not fair. these are about 1/3 the price and work wonderfully. I would have given them 5 stars for the price and quality but they don't fold enough. although the headphones do fold in the head band should also have a hinge so they can fold completely.
