"Great Price, Good Enough Noise Cancellation" on by vkvedam
Pros: Good Sound, Good Bass Response.
Cons: Dual Corded Design, Not as good as BOSE QC2.
Summary: I have bought these recently. To make a note, I am not a frequent traveller, neither by air nor by road or rail. I just wanted some good noise cancelling headphones at an affordable price. As I am still a student I haven't got money to go for BOSE QC2 as I have had a demo of those before this at an Apple showroom. Its quite good in my computer lab where the noise level is a bit noticeable. I have used it for a short journey in a coach and they have done a good job. First of all they are quite comfortable to wear for long listening sessions. The only draw-back is the dual corded design which makes them a little uncomfortable to keep in the pouch provided. Good bass response as I had to turn the bass boost function off in my CD-Walkman. They provide such a seal around ears that the whole entertainment is around your head. To make it more merrier, I have got a portable Dolby/dts pocket decoder for headphones (Thanks to Creative Labs). They two make a great a pair to have.
And considering the other options, BOSE QC2 will do a better job (But look at the price tag).
Next come Sennheiser PXC300-PXC150, don't have a circum-aural design. They are just supra-aural which I don't prefer as you can just notice the difference. And in addition to that the electronics have to be carried out in a seperate box.
Next come the AKG K28NC, even though they are circum-aural they haven't got integrated electronics. You got to carry a seperate box.
And more over I have never tried AKG (Even though they are in top 5).
Next we have got Sony MDR-NC50 which could be in-line with all these (Could be better in cancelling then HN110), they are pricey and a bit bulky.
There you go, only left Philips HN110.
Good enough cancelling, great sound.Updated
Well the construction is not that great.
The two pieces on top each ear-cup will eventually fall off even under careful maintenance. The only drawback as far as I am concerned. Use some sort of super glue so that they will never fall off. -
"Good headphones, Great Value, best value noise cancelling headphones" on by D_Money_16
Pros: Inexpensive, comfortable, good noise cancelling
Cons: Noise cancelling isn't perfect
Summary: I picked up these headphones for 75 canadian at a Wal-Mart. They are by far the least expensive noise cancelling headphones I've found. It doesn't cancel out voice noises very well, but it does muffle ambient chatter and noise very well. I highly recomment them, great value, great sound.
