"unmatched quality that I didn't even know existed"

    by nintendude7cubed on September 3, 2008

Pros: The best sound I've ever heard (and i've heard my share) in any pair of headphones coupled with the perfect amount of isolation that is actually really good for not needing batteries.. oh and the stereo/mono switch is pretty cool (not a dj)

Cons: They are just slightly uncomfortable but they say you need to get out of your comfort zone to make good friends, why not do the same for sound... I just got these, so i haven't experienced breakage yet but i worry because of what they say.

Summary: Bottom line, BUY THESE!!! they are absolutely the epitomy of quality in pretty much every way shape and build! Plus with these being headphones, all i can say is that you need to hear these for yourself to be the judge. but as a rio karma owner (who can adjust the sound to whatever he wants), I don't think there is any better of a pair of devices. If you use an ipod, I'm not promising anything (i say this for all of my headphone reviews). As for specs, i don't get much into that even though the one thing i do know from comparison, 50mm is pretty much the biggest you can get in drivers and not many headphones can even get close to 107db wheras pioneers claim they can (I haven't tried for the sake of my ears). as for power, i'm really shocked... On my rio karma, I'm at 14 notches! to give you an idea, the skullcandy earbuds needed 16 to get as loud and the skullcandy G.I.s (i was into the cheap skull candys before these) need 20 whole notches. Very impressive i have to say. I am saying this all even while listening to these right now as i type. I've had them for less than a day so they aren't even broken in yet.. they say allow like 8 hrs or so to break in the drivers so that means they aren't even at their peak yet. I am much looking forward to the many months of listening ahead of me with these.

Well its been like 2 months now and they haven't broken yet because i cared for them with that risk in mind.. I gotta say these sound even better now that they're broken in and I absolutely will never find anything better. I can almost not even tolerate any less anymore. I tried listening to earbuds after not having done so in like 8 months and i couldn't stand the sound. I even put on a pair of bose headphones that were triple the cost of these and they were bloody aweful. I really don't know what the hype is on those. Anyway in these 2 months I have tweaked the eq to bring out the bass and it is not at all muddy or "Farty" i guess some people say. Of course i can get the player to distort it if i want but by then the bass would be high enough. I gotta admit the cord can be annoying when i'm sitting on the bus, however, i think its possible to replace with a straight one, but i don't think it pays. Finally as for comfyness, you get used to them and now i can wear them for hours...

one other thing i forgot to add is that the padding on these headphones is not only resistant to sweat, dirt, blood, etc.. , but it also presses onto the ears in a way that doesn't leave you with the wave in your hair that i like to call "headphone hair". much like hat hair it can leave you looking kind of funny, but with these, you don't get headphone hair.
