"They do the job"
3.0 starson by gr4ph1kP4ND4Pros: They're comfortable, they fit around your neck very well, rather sturdy, handles high volumes well, fits most people, good sound for the most part
Cons: the cord is long, not portable at all, they feel flimsy, the levels are even but there's not much of an oomph from the bass
Summary: I'm a wannabe audiophile. I love my music, but i dont quite know what i'm talking about so bear with me. My dad bought me these for christmas and they've sufficed since pretty well actually. In the past two years i've so-far gone through 17 pairs of headphones ranging from $4-$130 and so far these have held up pretty well. I listen to mostly rock, currently i'm listening to some rap and I'm missing the bass i'm used to from some of my old headphones.
I'm still in highschool so i try to take these everywhere (i mean everywhere...) and when i'm walking around NYC with these around my neck i find the cord extremely annoying. Its longer than i am tall and i really have no use for something like that. I currently have them wrapped up in a rubberband but heres the thing: the cord is really sturdy. When i go through headphones its because the cord breaks.
the good thing is that i can shove these into my bag and pile my pencils and other s*** on top and i know they wont get scratched or break, but the annoying part is that they dont fold up very well, and because of the plastic i'm always worried i'm going to crack them in half. they just feel flimsy, they bend a lot and even though they're light (which is really nice) they just dont quite feel strong.
these are really good to put one can on, one off (they dont push your off-ear foreward and make you look like a monkey, and the cans pivot so you can keep one on your ear). You can wear them around your neck and turn the volume up high enough to use them like personal speakers without losing too much quality (amazingly enough).
they do not keep out all noise. on the train you can hear the squeal of the tracks and the annoying couple arguing behind you. on the other hand in my room its great to drown out my two roommates (boarding school...). They're really great for drowning out those PMSing days...
One of my biggest pet peeves is being able to hear other people's music when they've got their headphones on. I just asked my roommate and i only got to two bars (i'm on a Mac, so 20% volume) before she could hear them across the room (there's a good 12' between us...) so if you're like me and you like screamo and you tend to get stuck with that old lady on the train these probably aren't for you (unless you dont mind getting yelled at about a: blowing out your ears or b: listening to acceptable music)
overall you really get MORE than what you pay for, but if you're looking for quality then i'd say raise your price range. the sound aint bad, the fit is great (i can wear them for hours and often do) comfort is good, durability is yet do be determined (most headphones of mine last roughly 4 months), not portable unless you're like me and you carry a backpack everywhere, long, long long cord... i dont know what else to say
hope this helped!
