"Good clarity, poor bass, average overall" on by hfp22

Pros: Sound is pretty clear as expected

Cons: Poor bass, fit not great

Summary: The sound quality is disappointing. The bass is terrible; thud instead of boom. You can spend a little more and get the Sony Fontopia but I really recommend the V-Moda's Bass Freq for about the same price maybe less. And my top choice is the Etymotic's ER-6, Awesome! And the ER-6 only cost just a bit more than the Sennheisers.

"What is UP with this a-symmetric cable design." on by zendog13

    Pros: Good sound. Comfortable fit.

    Cons: STUPID cable design.

Summary: I was sure that these were defective until I called Sennheiser and they actually told me that the extra 12"+ of cable on the right ear bud was a more ergonomic design.

I think their R&D team back in Germany was dipping into the schnapps.

For one, according to the product rep for the US (Eric somebody), the extra long cable on the right is so that the cable can run behind your head (heaven help you if you want to wear it differently). This, of course, dictates that your personal audio device be worn on your left side. Okay, I'm fairly coordinated, but I'm not ambidextrous. What is this, some kind of subversive left-handed plot?

Sure, sure, I COULD just switch buds, but hey, I'm a bit of an audio fanatic (a bargain basement version maybe), so if they put the sound on the right side, that's where it freakin' belongs.

I've been trying to live with this for only a couple of days and it's still insanely annoying. The one-sided design means that there's extra tension on the left bud, so it's constantly being pulled out of my ear. And there's no easy way to deal with this extra "beard" of cable dangling across my chest.

I'm ROYALLY pizzed that this design element is listed NO WHERE in their product information (and I can't believe I'm the first consumer to mention this is a product review).

So, I'm stuck with great audio with an incredibly inefficient, user-unfriendly device. Kind of like putting a great sound system in an Edsel.

    Nice going Sennheiser.

    P.S. Your customer service sucks.
