great headphones

Pros: featherweight,great bass response

Cons: very big/ not handy.

Review: i had a great confusion of selecting which model, HD 437 or HD 457. i was listening to music for 30 mins in each of these head phones and at the end i found HD437 has slight edge over HD457 model in terms of bass.

after selecting the HD 437 model, its reviews were generally favorable than HD-457. i dont care what others say, some say they suck and some say there are great. All i want to say it was damn good for me when compared to HD 457and i went to purchase HD 437 based on the decision taken by ears and heart.

anyway its great for me.

Good value, sound OK

Pros: Sound is good and balanced
Sturdy feel
Pad fabric feels a lot better than Iit look on pictures
Long cable
Cheap price

Cons: Sound is unspectacular
Pads are too tight on the head

Review: The HD 437 are a quality product. The build is solid, the pads are comfortable and firm (maybe a tad too much), the fabric is surprisingly nice to the touch.

For testing purposes I used my iPod Nan (1G) with a flat equalizer. The sound is good as well, balanced. The headphones do a good job for a variety of music styles (rock, jazz, electronic) unlike the Sony MDR-XB300 (see my review: http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/sony-mdr-xb300-30mm/4864-7877_7-33578646-1.html?tag=mncol;uo ). However the sound is sometimes unspectacular and dull. I would say it lacks definition compared to the MDR-XB300.

The HD 437 are good entry-level headphones from a renowned manufacturer. On the plus side they're really affordable: 50$ regular price at Future Shop here in Canada.

Excellent headphones

Pros: Very comfortable, very good sound, solid bass.

Cons: 9 foot cord

Review: Excellent headphones, very good sound reproduction. I am using them with a Yamaha receiver with Silent Cinema, which reproduces virtual surround sound with normal stereo headphones. I have tried out various stereo headphones, and find these Sennheisers are the best of the 50-dollar and under crowd.

As one other reviewer pointed out, the headphones are designed to sit slightly forward of the crown of you head. They therefore have an inclined pad across the top, which makes them very comfortable for lengthy use. Previously, I had problems with full-ear earphones in that my ears would either be very sweaty after several hours, or else would be hurting so much I had to stop. I have none of that with these. The full-size earpads are exceptionally comfortable, and my ears do not sweat with prolonged use.

Bass reproduction is very strong, am very impressed considering they cost less than 50 dollars.

Cons : A longer cord would have been nice for home cinema use, but other than that, with an extension they are perfect. Great buy.

Disappointing Cans From Sennheisser

Pros: Design, Comfort

Cons: Sound Quality

Review: This was one set of headphones in a series I tried out when trying to upgrade from the $15 Jensen set I bought about 5 years ago. Unfortunately, the 437s along with the 477s never did the job. I actually tried out the 437 s and the 477s in the store to compare. The 477s were naturally more expensive but to my ears the 437s sounded better. When I got home and compared them to the Jensens there was no comparison. Not recommended.

437 better than 457, 477, 497, PX 200?

Pros: I like the sound! lightweight, comfortable

Cons: not foldable

Review: I was looking for a light pair of headphones for on the go and having studied reviews on the net was planning to go for the PX 100. At the airport duty free shop they had set up Sennheiser's PX 200, the HD 437, 457, 477 and 497 models for free listening. I tried them without looking at the model number not knowing which one is the cheaper and which one the more expensive model. The sound of the PX200 didn't compare to the others and out of question though I liked them for being foldable. The best sound to my ears - had the HD 437! After I realized that it was the cheapest model I listened in to all of them again and again as I wanted to buy good headphones even if slightly expensive. In the end I believed my judgement and bought the HD 437, I even found their pads more comfortable than the one's of the more expensive 477 and 497 models. After buying I checked the net for reviews, there are few and some say that they suck, but well, for me the are great!
Updated
and do not dare to give them the big 10 they have in my heart!

Twenty bucks wasted

Pros: Sounds okay, but...

Cons: These headphones must have been designed for aliens, not humans. The band across the top of the head sits at an odd angle (not flat), so it is *very* uncomfortable.

cheap, good performance, not flashy tho:P

Pros: extremely clear sound quality, light weight, comfortable to use for hours. good range of frequency

Cons: a stronger bass sound would do nicely, although as it is it's adequate. doesnt look beefy, more on the flimsy side actually

Warm, attractive, comfortable, inexpensive headphones

Pros: Very comfortable Fairly Sturdy Rich sound Inexpensive Clean highs and lows Long cord

Cons: Compared to the higher end senns these are fairly ditsy. Was suprised to see the earpads and headrest made of cotton, looked like faux leather.
