"Great sound quality but little else!" on by andrea_pirlo_21
Pros: 1. Great sound quality
2. Cool colour (lime green!)Cons: 1. Terrible fit
2. Uncomfortable to wear
3. NOT sweat or water resistant
4. Cable far too long
5. Not suitable for sports!Summary: These headphones are clearly made for aliens who don't sweat, and have strangely shaped heads. To begin with I was very pleased, and thought that £6.49 was an absolute bargain for a sennheiser product, this being a company which I hold in high esteem.
My initial reaction was that the sound quality was very clear and crisp, but I was a little dismayed as I didn't know if the earphones were every really in place. I never felt secure with them on as they would always slip and it was immediately apparent that you would have to have the widest head on earth in order for these to fit you correctly.
I set off to the gym to use them for what I bought them for, and what they were designed for in the first place, and didn't think they were so bad the first time I went; the cable was far too long so I had to tuck the excess wire into my shorts which was a mild inconvenience, and they inevitably slipped out of position quite a bit, but the sound quality was fantastic.
The second time however was a completely different story; whilst I was on the treadmill they kept slipping out of position and I had to keep re-adjusting them again and again, which vexed me increasingly. So, eventually opting to simply let them hang around my neck I continued with my workout without my music.
Upon finishing and walking home, I decided it would be a good idea to listen to some tunes as I often find walking quite monotonous, and much to my horror, I found that the sound quality had completely diminished; it was now completely "tinny" and lacked any bass to it at all. I am sure this was caused by the sweat from the workout and felt a little cheated as on the Play.com website it is quoted as saying the earphones are: "sweat and water-resistant," but I hardly remember sweating very much at all!
It is obvious that these earphones may well be more suited to sport than most others, but I think these are let down by their design more than anything. The product is designed to be ultra-flexible, and in my opinion perhaps they made it too flexible; maybe a "quite flexible", or "a little flexible" would have been more appropriate, as in my experience a more rigid design is better for sports as this means they are less likely to slip. For this reason I would reccomend the PMX 70 earphones ahead of these. All credit to sennheiser for being inventive and enterprising in trying to create a new design, but I feel they have jumped the gun with these; whilst I like their lime green colour and feel like this sets it apart from most other earphones, I don't think we will be visited by aliens any time soon, so am a bit confused as to the product's target market.
"Even when you're going flat out, the headphones guarantee a secure fit and superb wearing comfort. All materials used are extremely robust, long-lived and also sweat and water-resistant." This is a quote from Play.com. First of all, the life-span of the earphones was only 1 week, which could hardly be described as "long lived," and the very fact they feel inclined to call them "sweat and water-resistant is frankly laughable. Finally, I would say that the LAST thing that these earphones "guarantee" is "a secure fit and superb wearing comfort," and it makes me angry that they could suggest this (although they would never admit to any of its defects).
To conclude I would like to apologise that this review was so long, I am merely venting my frustration because I cannot get my money back on a product which promised so much but delivered very little. Please do not waste your hard earned money on this, I would not advise it!
