"Effective noise cancellation and good sound" on by riddion
Pros: Really good noise cancellation, good sound, perfect for my iPod
Cons: The battery pack can be a little tiresome, and sometimes small click sounds when noise cancellation is on
Summary: I have had these headphones since last summer and absolutely love them. I have spent quite a bit of money trying to get a pair that is durable, foldable, that has good sound and with some sort of isolation from sounds from outside.
When I am in the city, waiting for the bus, train, walking around, I have always been irritated with all the noise that is around me. I wanted to enjoy the music without having to ruin my earing by turning the volume to max on my iPod. I finally bought this pair and they have been a blessing. I think it is remarkable how effective they are when walking around in the city. All the constant traffic noise is gone and I can just walk around in silence hearing only my music, if I want to. I also used them on the plane when I went on summer holiday. The worst of the constant noise from the plane was gone. Even though some of noise was still there I was very impressed.
The battery pack was a bit cumbersome at first but the headphones come with a case that I can put the battery pack and my iPod in and I can attach the case to my belt. Now that it's Winter I can just attach the pack to the inside pocket of my coat.
There are only two small things that is negative. First it is that the headphones sometimes give out a small click sound when the noise cancellation is on. The second is that if there is no noise to cancel the noise cancellation feature produces a small hissing sound.
These are really excellent headphones. I thought that the price was a little high before I decided to buy them, but they have proven their worth for me. I highly recommend them. -
"Annoying buzz defeats purpose" on by rengola
Pros: Small, light, comfortable
Cons: Buzzing noise during many music types
Summary: I listen to streaming internet radio, iTunes, etc., and had some $70 noise canceling headphones that worked flawlessly for four years until they finally gave up. The Sennheiser PXC 250 seemed like a decent replacement, but during any guitar (like classical guitar) and some other music types, there is an unbearable buzzing. I cannot stand these headphones.

"Good for the money" on by nawur
Pros: Cancels out fair amount on plane
Cons: Can be a little bulky
Summary: For airplane rides, this is great. It wasn't too pricy (I got a refurbished one for about $70) and I could definitely tell the difference with the noise canceller on. Don't be fooled by people who complain that it doesnt work well in libraries, etc. The technology is designed for constant frequency noises like you would find on an airplane. The sound quality was also good (at least to a non-professional ear), though I really only used it for video games on my laptop, so I can't speak for actual music.

"Better NC than Bose, but not better base" on by j_a_s_p_e_r-188986778451220866
Pros: Excellent Noise Cancellation, Price!!
Cons: Cumbersome battery pack
Summary: WOW! I paid $80 for my set and I've been using them for almost a year now. Batteries last very long time. Sounds amazing, but it does not have the base of the Bose Quiet Comfort 2.
I had a sense of being at high altitude or with pressure on my eardrums in the beginning. This passed after a few days.
$80 vs $300, no contest. I'll live with the battery pack for that -
"enjoying them so far" on by Heymull
Pros: great noise cancellation, good sound, compact size
Cons: battery pack (that it exists at all)
Summary: I bought these a month ago in anticipation of upcoming flights. I find them comfortable and capable of quite good sound reproduction. The background noise cancellation feature works well: it reduces externally produced low frequency sounds (rumble), which can drain a person after continued exposure. Yet it lets through higher frequencies like human voices, which I appreciate because I don't like to be cutoff from people I am in the midst of.
The battery pack isn't too large, and I use the double-zippered case to hold my Zen Vision 30 GB when I'm listening to MP3 music. How convenient!
