"My need for others ends here. Stunning!"
Pros: solid, sturdy, unpolished pure sound reproduction
Cons: sorry, none that I can find thus far
Summary: Usually my ears can't hold ear-buds, they fall out everytime and I was just fed up with that crap, so I was hoping Shure knew what my ears need, and now I'm sure Shure knows!
Even the default sleeves (the ones in the picture on this site) fit me perfectly, and they stay that way for hours when I'm moving around, without irritating me. I like the foam sleeves most because they tend to adapt with body temperature and movement changes, plus they diffuse the sound best.
I'm a professional audio engineer and mostly use Sennheiser HD600 headphones for work, so I really was not expecting them to sound as good as they say, but I must admit I'm very pleasantly surprised;
At first glance they have harsh reproduction in the 1 to 5 kHz spectrum, but this changes when you put them in your ear-canals like they should; Deep. The better you wear them, the more high-end these things get to sound. It pays to look at the manual, I was not used to wiring going alongside the back and this ends up being a very good idea for me.
These E4's have amazing bass reproduction for such small creatures. I use them on my iRiver H140 with its User EQ setting adding Bass to +6 (I always had it set like that, even with real headphones connected to it) and they make the low blow like you wouldn't believe! Glad they're not even remotely boomy, they've managed to dim the 128-200 Hz spectrum to a pleasant extent, so the lowest of lows doesn't get on your nerves as much. They sure are the warmest sounding ear-buds I've ever heard. Trance-music sounds the way it should sound, and I've heard acoustic guitars the way they should sound, I'm quite satisfied with them.
The cable length is just perfect, I don't know what people are complaining about unless they are much longer for the E4c but I don't think they are. They're certainly NOT too long for the E4, I wouldn't want them any other length. They come with a nice strong gold-plated 3.5 to 6.3 mm adapter-plug, a volume-control cable insert (I'll never use myself), a huge amount of spare sleeves and a cool looking small round zipper-case for storage.
They're assembled in Mexico, from US and Chinese parts, and I for one have no trouble saying they're well worth their price! I honestly can't imagine ever needing other ear-buds, that's why I'm giving it a 10.Updated
After owning them a while longer I'm still quite happy with them. Gotten used to the wires hanging over my ears, sometimes via my back, sometimes at front, both work fine for me.
Meanwhile I've grown fond of the rockbox firmware for my iRiver portable player, which has magnificent EQ options. Through that I can get exactly the sound I want from these buds. Don't miss anything from the low-end
(honestly have no idea where those complaints come from). Maybe that's just a matter of having the right amplifier for these buds? My iRiver iHP140 has no problem reproducing Bass on my E4's.

Meowing, I have had a very hard time getting these to fit properly. When pushed way in the ear they are spectacular but they won't stay in my ear. Any suggestions??
Thanks.
