Summary: I've had these Shures for about a year. With any sound system (home stereo, MP3 player), the sound can only be as good as its weakest link. Typically, the weakest link will be the earphones since most people will not spend much money on a good pair. Ever since I got the Shures, I've heard the nuances of songs that I've never heard before but have listened to many times. It doesn't make any sense to me to pay $200-$300 (or more) for an MP3 player and have $30 earphones. Although there have been some complaints as far as comfort and fit, it's really the only way for this type of earphone to work properly. Anyway, the sound is unlike anything you'll probably ever hear, so if you can afford it, go for it. I have had one of the earstems break off but that was due to my own carelessness so treat these carefully and keep them in the case that comes with them.
