"PLEASE Rate the ENTIRE new SE line"
Pros: Hello !!!! The Sound
Cons: I do not own a pair yet.
Summary: CNETs reviewing only one out of the 4 different models in the new SE line is worthless. There are obviously significant differences between the $150 "starter" model and the $500+ top of the line phones. By not reviewing the entire line you are doing your readers a great disservice.
In Ear Earphones such as these are not easily auditioned by the normal buyer making CNETs and it's users advice even more appreciated in deciding between the vastly different models and price points. When I bought my E4s I was originally looking at the 2s or 3s but your advice allowed me to justify spending the extra cash to both myself and my wife.

Hi FJKB,
Believe me, Shure is at the top of our list of earphones to review, but reviewable samples of the other models have not been made available to us yet--I'm itching to get them in myself!
I can tell you that I've had a listen to the pre-production SE420 and it sounds stellar. It offers more balanced sound than the SE310; the SE310 offers more bass. Also, note that the SE530 is exactly the same as the Shre E500PTH (http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones-headsets/shure-e500pth-sound-isolating/4505-6468_7-31644102.html?tag=prod.txt.7), except that the Push-to-Hear accessory will be sold separately.
I hope this helps! (Also, thanks to ShureLove for the added input.) -
As my name may allude, I am a Shure employee and I thought I'd see if I can help with some explanation on the SE Models. Basically, as you go up the line from the SE210 to the SE530, you get increasingly more expansive frequency ranges. This translates into greater detail, depth and accuracy. The SE420 and SE530 use separate tweeters and woofers to deliver highs, mids, and lows that are distinct and clearly defined. The SE420 has 2 speakers in each earphone and the SE530 has three (a woofer and two tweeters) in each. Also, the SE420 and SE530 come with additional accessories that the SE210 and SE310 do not include in-package. They all have the modular cables allowing change in cord length, sleeves selection for personalized fit, and zip cases included. The SE310 incorporates a "Tuned Bassport" providing more airflow around the speaker resulting in enhanced bass over the SE210. Please take a look at the info on shure.com as well. Hope this helps - thanks for your interest!

I own the SE310 which I got ALOT cheaper on Ebay. ($180) They sound really good and I am oblivious to anything that happens in the gym while I am wearing them. The case is great and the construction quality is improved from the Shure's that I had before. The only issue is that since they are VERY secure in your ear some people might find them too stiff in their ears.
