"Great sound, very tough"4.0 starson by TheOsprey
Pros: Great soundstage
over the ear moldable wires
very crisp and detailed
longer cord is nice for me
Cons: picky on fit
moldable wires take some work to dial in
takes awhile to learn how to place them
moldable wire can get hung up on each other but cords don't tangle
Summary: The first month or so I would have agreed with the reviewer, kind of thin and hollow sound at first. I was coming from the se210's and thought I knew how to fit foam buds and over the ear. I didn't even realize I didn't have a good fit since I thought I knew what that was and how to get it with the Shure's. Low and behold, I actually needed a different sized (bigger) foam insert than the other Shure's I had owned. I can't be sure but definitely sounds like what happened with her. Especially if she didn't use them very long. I had the same impression of the buds until I got them right.
Once I got a really good seal and more adept at putting these in (they are difficult until you get used to it) then the sound really opened up. Much larger soundstage and more balanced with better bass than the se210's. Even though these aren't dual driver's, I think they are right on the cusp of where you can hear it if you aren't using good quality material. Stepping up the bitrate of what I was listening to also helped a lot. These sound pretty amamzing once you get them dialed in. I think they have great detail and sound really good with acoustic, bluegrass, country. maybe not the best for rock. easily worth the price tag.
