"Not as bad as many of the web reviews lead you to believe" on by getmoresoon

    Pros: Several... see detailed Opinion

Cons: Some... but not so much.. again see detailed Opinion

Summary: 1st off.. most of the web reviews I read on these are not exactly giving a sparkling review. Honestly tho, considering the cost and what you get compared to the other choices out there, the MDR-RF920RK is not that bad.

    Pros:
    - 18 hr runtime on the INCLUDED NiMH batteries. Have a movie marathon that is longer than that? Well swap in a pair of ordinary Alcaline AAA batteries for even longer runtime! Checkout the lowsy runtime on some of the competing models, especially with propriatry batteries.
    - Auto Power On/Off. I had a pair of SENNHEISER RS110 on for a demo in a store... they have a switch for power, that I can easily see being left on when you take them off... the Sony? Take them off your head, and they turn off!
    - The ear pads are very comfortable... they fit nicely over my ears and are very soft.
    - They seem pretty light for full fitting headphones... as light as anything else generally out there in the same price range.
    - Lots of complaints out there about static and interference... well I HAVE the wireless household. 1 900MHz cordless, 2 2.8GHz cordless, and a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi DSL router.... The only time I had interference was when I picked up one of my 2.8GhZ cordless phones and turned it on. If the set was on the table away from me, there was no interferance. So if you can make cordless phonecalls while listening to your cordless headphones... yes, you might have a problem :) I don't think most of us can do that tho. When all is quiet on the TV, or your CD.. yes there is a bit of static in the background, so true audiophiles probably should not apply. The average user, with kids, pets and other noises in the house won't notice!
    - 2 audio inputs on the rear, so you have some options on how to hook these up to your home audio equipment.
    - 3 switch selectable channels to aid in getting around any possible interferance there might be in your house.

    Cons:
    - Certainly not for the audiophile. Yes, I could hear some static when the audio being sent was low. They are only rated for 20-20000hz. Most of us over the age of 30 probably can't hear outside that range anyway no matter how much you want to deny it :)
    - What engineer thought up the volume and tuning knobs? They are small, recessed, and VERY hard to find when they are on your head!
    - And that Tuning control... really, how hard would it have been to match the frequencies on the headset to that being output from the transmitter? It can be a pain to find that sweet spot. This is not just a complaint about the Sony... unless you are up near the $200CAD mark, most wireless sets have a manual tuning adjustment. (I wonder if this is why so many people complain about static on most wireless headphones?)

To summarize, for $100CAD they are pretty decent headphones.... I'd like better, but I'm not willing to spend almost double to get it.

"Almost like a kids toy" on by nothapy

Pros: The only good thing is the auto off

    Cons: Noisy, small controls

Summary: Would not recommend buying these. Tin can and string as good. In this case you don't even get what you pay for.

"Not one of Sony better attempts - promises more than it delivers." on by vinjov55

Pros: Comfortable earpieces and creative power control in the headset.

Cons: Static was noticable with any head movement with the receiver only 6 ft. away.

Summary: I have seen other brands of wireless headsets but I felt that I could trust the Sony name for a quality product. Comfortable design and creative format prompted me to purchase the unit although I noticed static when trying the unit at a Sony store. I thought that the static was due to being in a store environment. I was wrong. After the initial 16 hour charge I tried the unit out at a six feet distance and only moving my head slightly caused static and hissing to be evident. I tried turning up the source and changing channels but to no avail - I am returning the headset.

    "Suprising Poor" on by gowerbrown

Pros: Its great for listing to neighbors cordless phones

Cons: Its great for listing to neighbors cordless phones

Summary: As a huge Sony fan I was disappointed in these headphones. They not only felt like poor quality construction, but were poor quality overall. The tuning feature on the side was hard to adjust as every time you moved your hand, the reception was affected. When it was finally adjusted, turning your head had an effect on the static in the unit. When anyone used a cordless phone in the neighborhood, it would pick it up as well (Depending of course if they happened to transmit on the same channel you were set to).
