A good bargain

Pros: good sound, good price, decent fit

Cons: none, they're fine for the price

Review: These are a great pair of headphones for the price, they sound good and fit pretty well. I find that they're more comfortable if you remove the plastic pieces that stick out and go behind your ear. Especially if you have big ears like me.

Not bad sound, terribly uncomfortable.

Pros: Sound Quality, Price, Looks

Cons: Comfort

Review: I have a large head, which may be why I think they are uncomfortable, but they are extremely tight. I feel like my head is going to bruise wearing them.

These are great headphones for 10dollars

Pros: comfortable, decent sound

Cons: lot of the higher tones escapes, heard by everyone around you.

Review: These are great entry level headphones that are a perfect replacement for the cheap ones taht come standard with most portable audio players. That being said they are a little better on bass than the free headphones and a little better highs.

*Im a little confused about CNET how product like this can get a rating like 6.8 yet a higher end sony say the MDR-V150 gets a lower one. on inspection it looks like the people rating those headphones are rating based on the bst a headset can be, while the majority of ppl here are rating for the bargain...it shouldnt be this way. these headphones clear arent as good as those ones.

Great sound, great deal, comfortable

Pros: Great sound, clear at all frequencies; great price; comfortable; very durable

Cons: Not as compact as earbuds

Review: I don't think a better pair of personal headphones exists. I bought these headphones way back in 2001; they lasted me all the way until this year... and they still work! I abused these headphones more than enough, and to this day they work. I will be ordering another pair, as there is a barely-noticable buzz in one of the speakers. Only 15 bucks incl. shipping from buy.com

I love the sound on these things. As a lifelong musician, I struggle to find good sound from consumer electronics. These bad boys are the only phones I use with my ipod. Do yourself a favor and grab a pair.

Perfect Budget 'Phones for mp3 players

Pros: Behind-the-Neck style, Good base response, Long cord, >$20 price.

Cons: Can be tight, Foam rips after extensive use.

Review: I was raised an audiophile, so i know what i am talking about when it comes to sound.
Some may say that these Headphones may have too much bass response, and in truth, i have to agree. But when paired with mp3 players that too often are lacking in bass (iPod) this headset makes up for this, creating a wonderfully balanced sound with remarkable clarity, especially considering it's price. So these headphone not only help the sound of mp3 players, but it comes with better than average sound quality, cheap price, and they are certainly more comfortable than the "in-ear" headphones.
As I said before, they are the perfect budget 'phones for iPods and such.

The deal breaker is that these headphones are too TIGHT.

Pros: 1. Good mid-range and treble. 2. Lots of bass (for those who love pounding bass)

Cons: 1. Lots of bass (for those who DO NOT love pounding bass) 2. Fit is much too tight

Review: SOUND QUALITY: Before I begin, the reader needs to realize I am not a lover of pounding bass, as Americans typically are. I like bass, but I like it to be balanced with the rest of the sound. Having said that, my opinion is that the bass presence with these headphones is too much, although it may be just fine for others. To my ears it bleeds into the mid-range and treble and produces a muddy sound. However, if you have an equalizer you can turn down the bass a bit, and then the overall sound is actually very nice. The mid-range is warm; the treble is clear and not too high. In fact, the sound quality is good enough (after it has been adjusted) that if it had not been for one critical flaw I would not have returned them to the store. Read on...

COMFORT: These headphones are not comfortable. They are very tight-fitting ( my head is normal-sized), and although I assume they were designed this way to keep them from slipping, the end result is that they are painful to wear longer than about 20-30 minutes. I purchased these to listen to music on my computer while I work so non-slippage is irrelevant to me. I need comfort for long periods of time, and the lack of comfort is a significant strike against them.

Therefore, I cannot recommend these headphones. However, if you have a smaller-than-average sized head and a love of bass (or an equalizer to turn it down) then they may work for you.

Good price, poor sound quality

Pros: The MDR-G42s are fairly comfortable whether you're running or just listening to tunes.

Cons: The sound quality is so-so, and the bass reproduction is downright poor. They crack when listening at moderate to high volumes on my MP3 player.
