    "Don't bother" on by zikanda

Pros: Sound is rich and detailed

    Cons: Hiss and reliability

Summary: At £90 these are not cheep and having had my pair fail in the left ear after just 2 days of use was very disappointing to say the least. To add to my frustration when I checked all the online reviews across several websites it turned out that this is a very common fault with this product.

As I got these for their noise cancellation properties I was disappointed when the volume control did not work when in use on the plane. There is also an annoying hiss when the cancellation is on, even in quiet environments. When the noise cancellation is off the performance is also compromised although there is no hiss.

I could not recommend these to anyone...

    "They DO cancel noise!" on

Pros: It does what it says on the tin. Like the nc5 they cancel low frequency noise but not high frequencies. I'm tired of people who say that they don't work when they clearly let me watch DVDs on the train in the morning when previously I would be blasting my

Cons: not the highest fidelity I must admit and does introduce some noise of it's own. But when you're using these in a noisy environment who cares anyway?

    "Great sound, excellent fit" on

Pros: Great sound, fits all size ears, decent cord length. I read the reviews on this before buying and actually bought this because of all of the bad reviews. This further reinforces my belief that the majority of people are incapable of being satisfied by an

Cons: Cord can get tangled, sound transfer from cord brushing against cloths

"I was wrong. These DO work..and great" on

Pros: Great noise cancelling on airplane, low price. In my earlier review (which hopefully someone can remove??), I wrote that these don't work. That was testing them in my living room. Just on the offf chance that I was wrong, I took them on a flight last week

"Such a waste of money!" on by cbborromeo

Pros: There are no pros for this substandard product

Cons: bulky, heavy, poor sound quality, bad design, etc.

Summary: A few years ago, when I was in Tokyo, I went to the "electronics district" where a friend bought a pair of Sony Noise cancelling earbuds. 4 years later, I was very happy to see similar ones coming out in the US. To my dismay, these are a cheap immitation from the same manufacturer. In fact, 3 friends also made the mistake of buying these and they all agree on the poor performance and total waste of money. The bulky noise cancelling "thingy" always manages to yank the buds out of my ears. I can only wear these when I am sitting down and have the thing clipped to my shirt. Whoever did the review for Cnet needs to refund my money!

I replaced them with Sony MDR-EX71SL ($35) and I am far happier. I also bought my wife a pair of Etymotic's and she loves them.
