"Incognito..." on by soviet123
Pros: Sound quality, comfort
Cons: Bulky, doesn't block ambient noise and looks cheap
Summary: I think people should pay more attention to this model/line, the MDR-XD series. Really great for such a price ($41.99 Future Shop Quebec Canada) while others are at least $70. I don't really find the "Movie-Music Switch" useful, so I opened it up and you know what I saw? The "switch" is a plastic flap that covers a part of the opening (the black cloth inside the earpads), when set to "music" the flap opens and hence allows some of the sount escape through the opening. Really useless switch. The good thing is, there is really a lot of interior space so I did a cheap noise-insulation job by filling up the cavity using foam and toilet paper. Really worked. To conclude all this, I would like to say that this is a great pair of headphones if you are looking for cheap, mid-leveled headphones with a near high-end performance (I personally don't care about bass), just rig it up a bit if you have time (If you wish to know more about modifying this particular model, contact me at nietzsche_zhang@hotmail.com).

"Comfortable and very nice sound." on by Zach Bonnell
Pros: Good sound. Light and comfortable.
Cons: Bass doesn't pick up until the volume is a little higher. The large size is unnecessary.
Summary: These are nice headphones. Very comfortable and light sounding. Not much bass but it's there, the bass seems to get more prominent the higher the volume is up. Their size seems unnecessary. Before I listened to them I expected a lot more power and bass due to their large size but I was slightly disappointed. The sound is nice and clear overall though and they have a nice light sweet sound to them. Not for metal or dance or anything that needs bass performance. They sound nice with movies as well.

"Great for the price" on by toreduce
Pros: Decent sound quality, low price, fairly durable
Cons: earcups can be a little pressured for larger ears, bulky
Summary: For the price these are an amazing pair of headphones. Retailing at around $30 the Sony MDR XD200 exhibits exceptional sound quality. The bass is decently prominent, and the mid-range and highs are clearly executed. Also, the one sided headphone prevents tangling. However, those with larger ears may find that the ear cup design might be a little uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. The large earcup size is not meant for portability and is intended for home use, so those who would like a pair of over-the-ear headphones may find this set bulky.
Overall, the Sony MDR XD200 offers great sound quality for a low price. -
