"A portable noise canceling unit." on by shinklee
Pros: Light and portable.
Cons: Music must be on to cancel sound.
Summary: I am owner of the $350 Bose Quiet Comfort headphones. These are BIG and heavy. And in the summer time also very hot and sweaty.
So I decided to go with a more modern and smaller unit. I picked the Sony.
The first time I tried it I was a bit disappointed because I had to have to music playing for the noise cancelation to work.
But I accepted it and made myself comfortable in the living coach. I tested the noise cancelation by making some sounds. I talked to myself and passed gas (loudly as I could) I sound was definately cushioned by the noise cancelation feature. Then I looked over at the other side of the living room and saw that someone had come into the house... woops. I didnt hear her comeing in! As embarrassed as I was I was happy that the headphones were able to quiet the entry of a person coming into a room.
Bad news... females voices come through with some clarity despite the noise cancelation. Girlfriends and mothers can be heard with unexcusable clarity.
