"Great Headphones. Review not totally fair." on by Napilopez

Pros: Open, Natural tone. Very comfortable. Very stylish and attractive. And of course environmentally conscious. Neutral sound that works for all genres.

    Cons: None really.

Summary: My main issue with Cnets review is that it seems to asusme a general preference for sound signatures. Thinksound markets the Thunders as their bass phone, and the rain as their more analytical, audiophile phones, which is precisely what they are. They do not lack bass at all, they simply don't throw it in your face like so many phones nowadays, and actually have decent bass impact for phones that are marketed as being more analytical. I listen to a variety of music from Drum and Bass to Classical, and these work great for just about anything. You'd find it hard to find a better headphone at the street price, and are even definitely worth it at their full price.

"Outstanding headphones, outstanding company" on by dwachter00

    Pros: SOUND (see below).
COMPANY is incredibly responsive to customer concerns and backs their product beyond the retailer's warranty.

Cons: My first pair had an issue with the wire connection breaking down after nearly a year. HOWEVER, the company was unbelievably responsive, and had a new pair out to me within 3 days of receiving my original pair.

Summary: Amazing 3-dimensional, clean sound. Vocals, acoustic guitar and percussion come through with precise definition and rich tones. Can't speak to the reviewer's complaints about bass - I don't like booming bass channeled directly into my head. I suppose if you like boomy boomy bass you can buy some cheaper headphones and boom your eardrums all you like. There's plenty of tight, well-defined bass in these headphones, and it doesn't overpower the rest of the music.
The company is a radical outlier in this day and age of poor customer support. I emailed customer support at 10pm on Sunday, and got a reply by 11:30pm from the founder/CEO. He had me set up with a return authorization right away, and the headphones were in the mail with the return slip the next morning. Just got my new pair, plus a bunch of extra earpieces for my trouble, and couldn't be happier. It's worth buying from these guys for their customer support alone.

"They are 5 star phones even for twice their price." on by route2

Pros: They are definately NOT bass anemic, bass is present and of very good quality. Treble is NOT overemphasized, like this cnet review might cause you to believe. Rain are laid back and have no harshness or sibilance. Mids are phenomenal, silky smooth.

Cons: Sound isolation is modest, these might leak more sound in and out than some other similar in ear phones. But it also what allows Rain to have their special sound.

Summary: These headphones really stand out in their price range. Very resolving, very balanced sound across the entire range.
Really, I wonder what is the deal with this cnet review, it does not seem to be qualified or even as much as reality based to me.
