"Finally a bluetooth headset that works right"

by PackBjammin on August 10, 2007

Pros: Nice sound from the headphones. Excellent microphone quality - people say it sounds just like I'm using the phone without a headset. Not painful on the ears - I wear these for hours every day.

Cons: I little too much low frequency boost? Easy to accidentally flip the hold switch, which can be scary until you realize what happened (i.e. Nooo, they didn't die already! Whew, it's the hold switch).

Summary: I spent too many hours researching and trying to find a replacement for my dead Motorola bluetooth headset. I hated answering calls on my old headset, but I loved the headphone sound. I was determined not to make the same mistake with the microphone piece this time. In short, I gambled on the S-2, and hit a home run on the first try. It works wonderfully on my HTC 6800/Mogul running WM6, though WM6 has to be told that A2DP is available on these things, which is a little bit of a pain. Music sounds good on these, but of course it won't rival a pair of Shure earbuds. People say they can't tell I'm using a headset, it sounds like I'm holding the phone to my head. It seems like maybe it tries to use the full bluetooth bandwidth for either speaking or listening, and flips to 75 microphone/25 headphone when both are talking, so it kindof teaches you to not interrupt when the other party is talking. I haven't had anyone complain about background wind noise when driving in my older somewhat noisy vehicle on the highway. Haven't tried it in a subway like others have, though. I commute with these guys, and I work out with them at the gym. No problems doing military shoulder press or behind the head lat pulldowns. No problems with earlobe pain either. Battery life is great, haven't drained them down recharging only at night. The price point was nice - I would have paid more for them given their quality, had I known how good they are.
