"Fantastic Gaming Headset"4.5 starson by OldManYoung
Pros: Design, Excellent Sound, Detachable Mic, Good thump and clarity for games and movies.
Cons: Not as comfortable.
Summary: I got this pair for cheap. And it is definitely worth the money. After my Zalman 5.1 broke, i decided to buy these. This one ain't 5.1 but i did not use Zalman's 5.1 either.
Creative Fatality (i don't have the patience to write in leet, sorry!) headphone has a striking design yet is very subtle and not too flashy like how the Plantronics are, though they look cool as well. The cups are made from soft velvet, usually found on sofas. That's a great touch. There is also a generous amount of the same fabric for the headband. The cord length is decent. Not too long, like my Zalman had, you could sit on the farther side of the room and still have the cord slopping to the floor! So if you are looking for a long cord, this definitely is not the one you want. The cord has an in-line volume controller and mic on/off switch. It also has clip attached to it so you can fix it on your shirt. Comes pretty handy.
Now for the sound. I am not an audiophile but they sound extremely well. I listened to all kinds of music and it delivered a crisp clear sound with enough bass, mids and treble, hitting every note and lyric clearly. The sound is wholesome and creates a good atmosphere. I tried games like CoD4, L4D, the new Ghostbusters and they all sounded superb. For movies, i tested Vexille HD and the sound was incredible. I am thinking of watching it again on these headphones!
I haven't tried the Mic yet, but they felt sturdy and looked to deliver a good performance. But i can't tell you for sure. It is detachable, i can see that being a boon to many.
The only issue i have with these phones is that they are not as comfortable as i hoped. I mean it does feel great to the ear when i put them, the velvet fabric working its charm. But i do feel the pressure on the ear and have to adjust to a different position. It is not painful, however. Neither while wearing them or after removing them. In fact, i feel like something light has gone off my ears. A welcome change from my Zalman. It does wet your ears, however. I am still feeling cool around my ears. It happens because of the pressure it creates. Happened with my Zalman too, so i am used to it.
So in the end, well worth the money for me.
