Pros It is small
Cons The clip is very, very awkward to use.
The sound is low on the supplied headset.
The connection range is very, very poor and the device frequently loses its connection with my iPhone.
Summary Jabra has replaced my unit twice and both units have the same problems - so it is safe to assume these are design flaws.
The clip - You need a wedge to properly keep the jaws open while attaching it to your garment or the rubber inserts on the jaws will eventually fail due to the force required to attach it onto your garment.
The conductivity range of this unit is very, very poor. I purchased this to allow me to place my iphone safety away from my immediate work area. If the unit is further than 5ft or I turn away from the iphone - the clip frequently loses its connection. If my hand passes in front of the clip - its loses its connection.
I know three others with this device and all have the same problems - all have returned the product. I seriously do not think this device was properly tested by CNET, as these problems are too obvious to have been missed by any proper test. In my opinion this device is rubbish.
Pros -It clips onto clothes
-Provides in-ear headphones
Cons -Customer Service
-Drops out frequently
-Button Paint runs off quickly
Summary I enjoyed using this bluetooth for a while while hiking and biking. It wasn't perfect, it would drop out frequently when around cars and populated areas. I was willing to let that go because hey it was a stereo bluetooth that allowed me to exercise. Less than a year after purchase the left channel audio went out, i tried different headphones and identified the issue. Only when pressure was applied to the headphone jack stem would the music play out of both channels it simply wore out. I contacted Jabra, let them know that i received this as a gift and did not have the receipt. They refused to help me out. I asked if there was any way they could help and i'd remain a loyal customer. I was ignored. I've been sure to spread the word about Jabras poor product quality AND even worse customer service. My GF works selling Cell Phones and will not recommend Jabra at all, I recommend staying as far away from Jabra as you can. You will only be disappointed. Don't let the price sway you, you truly get what you pay for.
"What's with cnet?"on by ryorklive
Pros There are none.
Cons Does Jabra not test there products?
Summary You've read the other negative reviews of this piece of crap. My question is, why doesn't CNET alter it's reviews when so many customers are experiencing problems? At the very least there should be a "warning alert" in it's ratings and force the manufacturer to respond. This product is unacceptable yet CNET has it listed as one of the top wireless headphone products. CNET, your poor advice is unacceptable!
Pros Small and compact. Simple interface. Great sound quality.
Cons No issues yet.
Summary I wanted wireless, but I wanted to keep my existing headphone. The Clipper is exactly that. Surprizingly small in size and very discrete (mat black rubber) so I can be clipped anywhere an not stick out like a sore thumb.
Pairing was flawless with my iPad2. I can't fast forward/reverse but track forward/back, pause, play, stop and volume controls work perfectly. Changing tracks is holding the up/down button until you hear the beep (takes about 2 seconds). The sound quality from the MIC is good, though my iPad is only the Wi-Fi model.
I really love the fact I can use ANY mini-jack headphones as I understand the stock pair that comes with the unit is low grade. All in all...10/10.
Pros The Clipper's design is simple and effective with a great quality feel. It is simple to pair and works perfectly with my iPhone 4 as well as my MacBook Pro. Sound Quality is great for a bluetooth device with good stereo imaging.
Cons My only gripe is that the clipper can be a little tricky to clip on some types of clothing. It prefers to be clipped to jackets, bag straps or seat belts, T-Shirts or other soft cotton can be tricky.
Summary At first touch the Jabra CLIPPER has a soft rubbery feel which gives one a sense of holding a quality product. The device is solid and well constructed, with enough weight to feel solid but not too heavy (You don't get the sense that you have clipped a dead weight to your clothing).
There are three buttons that control the device which are not entirely intuitive for apple users, but once you get the hang of the functions everything works very easily and you can easily operate the device via touch alone. The difference for apple users is that to skip to the next track you don't double click the home button but rather press and hold the "+" button.
The sound quality with the provided earbuds is reasonable, but the great thing about this device is that you can plug in your own headphones (or other aux device via 3.5mm plug and cable) and this is a great option which definitely provides improved sound quality. Using my own headphones the sound quality is really good for a Bluetooth device; stereo imaging is good and the basic sound quality is great for enjoying music on the go.
I use the Clipper with my iPhone 4 and my Macbook Pro. With the iPhone it does everything it advertises it can do with no problems... Answers calls, listen to music, skip tracks & change volume (Although it should be noted that the volume of the iPhone does not change but the volume that the device outputs does - so if you like things loud your iPhone volume should be up high so that you can get more range out of the volume control on the Clipper). On the MacBook Pro it can control media (Play / Pause / Skip / Volume) and it works as headphones as well as a mic; so a good device for Skype or iChat. One pleasant surprise is that it even works well with watching videos and there is not perceptible sound delay so lip sync is not effected - this can be a problem with some bluetooth devices.
So all in all if you are a Mac user I can recommend this device, it pairs easily works robustly and has a similar minimal but functional design that Macs have. There is even a separate quick start guide aimed for iPhone users in the literature that comes with the Clipper. As far as I know the Clipper will work with the iPhone 3G, the 3GS and the 4 providing the software updates are up to date. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
