Entered CNET Catalog: 12/27/2003

SKU: WAVEMNOK7210302

Manufacturer: Jabra

Manufacturer description

The JABRA EarWave Boom for mobile phones features an ultra-lightweight earpiece with discreet styling for a sleek look. With its secure and snug behind the ear fit, EarWave Boom stays in place comfortably. Its noise-canceling microphone blocks out background noise so you can talk hands-free no matter where you are. And the high-sensitivity speaker works with JABRA MiniGels for enhanced reception, quality and optimum sound volume. The new, contoured shape and efficient design of the EarWave Boom give you all-day comfort without sacrificing stability or performance. It feels good, thanks to its lightweight design, and you look great, because EarWave Boom features low-profile styling. The sturdy, stable microphone lets you enjoy crystal-clear conversations, even when you're on the go. People will hear your voice instead of what's going on around you, in any environment. MiniGels channel sound directly into your ear, and work with the speaker to boost volume and optimize sound quality. And for added comfort and fit, MiniGels pivot for use in either ear and come in two sizes - standard and small.

Very clear and loud volume on both ends

Pros: It was easy to hear using the headset (easier than using my cell--I rarely had to turn the volume up past "1"), and the person I was talking to was able to hear my voice loudly and clearly (people usually weren't able to tell if I was using it).

Cons: I'm guessing this is the same for most of these types of products, but it picked up wind easily (sometimes even wind created from me walking briskly) and I'm having to buy a new one after a month of continual use, because the cord is shorting out.

Review: Excellent voice clarity and volume; picks up wind easily; cord prevents brain tumors, but is a liability (shorted on mine eventually). I'm buying it again to replace it.

Would never buy again

Pros: I could hear everyone quite clearly

Cons: People couldnt hear me, background noise, wouldnt stay in ear

Review: I bought one of these and it worked ok for me for about 4 months. I could hear everyone quite well but people complained of background noise. I could not get this piece to fit in my ear very well at all despite various gels. I got a replacement and one for my boyfriend as well when the other one just stopped working. Neither of them worked and the two other replacements lasted 1 week. I'd never buy this headset again

rather use this wired than any bluetooth

Pros: loud, stays in place, good mic

Cons: wired, delicate wire connection, boom looks silly

Review: I have had a few headsets that have been paired with a few different phones over the years. This is, by far, the best one yet. It has been paired with motorolas [t720, razr, older candybar] and samsungs [a950]. Unfortunately, it does not work well at all with my landline cordless phone {GE}
The mic and noise cancellation are great. The other party can always hear me clearly in moderately noisey environments [car with windows down, city streets, etc.].
The earpiece is loud and clear. With the large minigel, I can block out a little bit of environment noise to really help the clarity [this is something I can be very sensitive to].
I had a BT-350 for a while. The features on it were very nice, but the sound quality for me or the other party was so bad that I couldn't live with it. I'd rather use this with a wire, than have the convienience of bluetooth. It just sounds that much better.
The version of earwave that I have includes the control button. This acted as a "mute" button on my motorolas. On the samsung a950, it operates the voice commands and answers & ends calls.
The only problem with this headset [other than being wired] is that I have known a few people that have broken them around where the wire connects to the boom. I have been very lucky with mine, but this seems to be the weak spot for this design.
Again, the sound quality and fit are so good that, for me, it's worth using this wired headset rather than a bluetooth headset. Finally, the boom does look a little silly, but at least I don't have a beacon light flashing on the side of my head!

Not as great at least for me

Pros: Comfortable, great incoming sound.

Cons: Used 3 times and everyone said that it was hard to hear me and that I sounded like i was in a tin can.

Review: Still trying to find a comfortable headset that people can hear me instead of missing parts of conversation or sounding like I am in a tunnel.

I have been shopping for a nice ear bud, that actually fits securely, and comfortably. This is is.

Pros: You will hear your conversation loudly, clearly. I even had to turn my volume down on my phone. The adapters for the earpiece let you adjust the comfort, and noise level.

Cons: If you want a clear earbud, secure fit, and comfort this is it. The only con may be to the users that want the call end button, and redial feature.

Review: If you want a no frills earbud, that works, and is comfortable, with excellent clarity, this is it.

best earpiece i've ever tried (and there have been a lot)

Pros: stays put, does not hurt ear, great sound quality

Cons: big plastic part outside of jack won't fit inside my lx phone

Review: everytime someone i know goes to buy an earpiece i always recommend this one. i've been known to be quite lazy and have laid down with this earpiece on and it still doesn't fall off or become uncomfortable. i hate earpieces that stick in your ear but this one wraps around the outside. sure, there is no call end button but come on - you have to press a button to end the call anyway. how hard is it to click end call on the phone? i might be lazy but i'm not *that* lazy...

Sounds OK and fits well but lacks end call/switch button

Pros: Small, comfortable, light

Cons: Lack of end call/switch button. You have to reach to the phone and find "end call" button.

Review: Good set but the inconvenience of having to mess with the phone is a deal killer.

Perfect Non-wireless headset

Pros: Great sound quality (both ways), Fits great

Cons: The wire? No volume adjustment...might attract a little wax.

Review: It's loud but not loud enough to hurt your ear. It NEVER falls off (unless you yank the cord). You can even bend down to pickup something w/o having to hold the earpiece. It also has a small Call/End button, which I like. And you can wear it all day and it's comfortable. I think this is the best Non-Wireless headset for all phones.

Great sound going both ways

Pros: The headset is comfortable. Both parties are clear and easy to understand.

Cons: Forget about switching ears in the middle of a call since the minigel has to be rotated.

eventually complete junk

Pros: simple, comfortable

Cons: after a short time (as little as 2 weeks, as long as a month) complaints from others increase about sound quality, I can hear fine, but excessive noise deters usage, get a different jabra

Best Wireless headset I have ever used!

Pros: 1-The loudest audio output I have seen in the US. 2-Very good clarity from the microphone and speaker. 3-eay to put on and take off. 4-Doesn?t hurt my ear if I wear it a long time. I can wear it all day long.

Cons: I cannot find anything negative about this headset other than I had to go to three different locations to find the product in stock. The sales rep said they can?t keep them in stock because the sell so good. I finally found them at a Verizon Wireless stor

You can hear, they can hear

Pros: - Comfortable - plenty loud - boom microphone doesn't get in the way - microphone picks up your voice as if you are speaking right into the phone - Sturdy
