"This one is a keeper! However, Treo 650 owners, read on . . ."

    by chete9 on March 10, 2005

Pros: Absolutely snug, yet comfortable fit, excellent volume range, long battery life, great design, and easy-to-use!

Cons: For Treo 650 owners, the better choice is the pa1m One Bluetooth Headset--a Treo "tweaked" version of the BT250 that's a 10!

Summary: I own the new pa1m One Sprint PCS Treo 650 and finding a perfect "Bluetooth" headset match was a real learning experience. It started with the Cardo Scala-500 (an 8+), then the Motorola HS810 (an 8-), and finally this Jabra BT250. Though the pa1m One (OEM) version of this exact headset is the "One & only" for a Treo 650, so that you get "Auto-connect" and additional capabilities, it should be a keeper for the rest of you. I rate this headset a 9+ among all other compatible headsets because of its all around exceptional performance and design. This headset is a Bluetooth accessory must! WARNING to TREO 650 owners: Though the pa1m One version appears available on many on-line website stores ($66-$99), you risk getting the less-than-compatible, "untweaked" Jabra BT250 by not buying directly from the pa1m One Store. You'll know when the headset will not "Auto-connect" the first time you hit the "dial" button on your Treo, so buyer beware!

This review of the headset says to only buy it from the Pa1m One Store, in order to get full compatibility with the Palm Treo 650 phone. However, after extensive websearch, this store does not seem to exist. Palm.com does exist, but if you search on the Palm website, there are no matches for the Jabra.

Furthermore, there are no jabra retailers in the USA as far as I can tell.

Are there wireless headsets that are compatable with any phone? How do I know what to look for? I have an older phone, I500 that does everything I want. Hands free is becoming necessary if you want to drive and talk.
I need some direction on what to look for... provided there is something for this phone.

I would like to know were I can find the BT250 that is compatible with my 650, I can't find it anywhere in the palm or palmone stores. Also, do you think the new BT250v would work with the treo?

I took chete9's advice and purchased the Jabra Free Speak BT250 by Palm One. But I am unable to "pair" the headset to the Treo 650. Do I need to "HotSync" it or can I just use "Hands-free Setup"? Please give step by step instructions, chete9.
