"Worked well 8 out of 10"
Pros: Comfortable, Cost Effective, Efficient
Cons: User re-training, some base problems
Summary: Equipment: Verizon VX6600 & 3COM NBX LAN Handset
The Good:
The unit is very comfortable to wear. Stays on the head even with sudden head motions. My previous Motorola Headset was prone to flying off with sudden head turns when shoulder checking while driving. Clarity and Volume is better also. The in the ear design conducts sound MUCH better that the over the ear model. Battery life is good and works well in my particular user case (16 hour days - 2-3 hours of actual use). Pricing was also very good in comparison with buying two wireless headsets to meet the dual function. Some great discounts available.
The Bad:
You have to position the sound gel properly or it could mute/muffle the sound. The charging base has a tendency to go to sleep and not wake up. I usually find then when I get in to the office first thing. Volume from the VX6600 still too damn low. Noise cancelling is totally befuddled when lots of ambient sounds (ie. loud streets, driving with windows open, etc.)
Summary:
I've just ordered the remote handset lifter. I'm quite satisfied with the unit and despite some kludginess it works well enough to make the cost benefit ratio!
