"The ERA is the last headset you will ever want to own!"5.0 starson by TonyP3rd
Pros: Amazing clarity for both sides of the call.
Pairs easy, long battery life.
The MyTalk app was an amazing surprise. If you attend conference calls with pass codes, you will never part with this headset/app combo. Read my summary for a description.
Cons: It's not waterproof. I am buying my 3rd ERA after washing the first 2 in the laundry. Incredibly, they all still work. The sound is still crisp but the microphone intermittently loses audio quality.
Fit is poor but it's improved over the Jawbone II.
Summary: I prefer the Jawbone line to all of the other headset makers that I have owned: BlueAnt, Motorola, Plantronics, and others.
I compare the experience of owning an ERA to that of a luxury German automobile. The longer you own one the more features you discover and the more you appreciate the perfection in design. The superior level of thought and engineering that went into making this device is evident in its comprehensive feature set and ease of use.
I will not list all of the features that I love about this headset. However, the additional features available when using the MyTalk app with my Android phone makes this headset a must-have for me. I attend many conference calls, usually while driving. The MyTalk app links to your calendar and announces when a meeting is starting. Then, with one touch of the button, the ERA makes the call AND enters the pass code automatically. You will no longer have to remember, write down, or fumble with your phone to enter a conference call pass code!!!
Regarding fit, I have only owned one headset that fit well out of the box (it was an older BlueAnt). Therefore, I highly recommend adding a custom ear bud regardless of which company manufactures your headset. I will not mention the name of the company where I bought mine to avoid sounding like an advertiser. However, the company will probably be among the first in the list of search results for "Custom Molded Earpieces Jawbone." The custom ear buds are a little pricey but they are worth the expense if you want to have the best comfort and performance with the ERA. The custom ear bud keeps the headset in place and useable during almost any activity - exercise, working in the garage, mowing the lawn, etc. The acoustics are not the best while riding a lawn tractor, but it does work. One drawback to the custom ear bud is that it is so comfortable that I often forget to take it off. I consider this a drawback because I believe it is poor etiquette to wear an earpiece while conversing in person. I originally bought the custom ear bud for my Jawbone II and was very pleased to find that it fit my ERA perfectly. I have enjoyed this combination for over three years.
1. Once you begin to rely on the ERA's features, you will never want to use another brand.
2. You will never again be satisfied with the out-of-the-box fit of any headset once you experience the comfort and performance of a custom molded earpiece.
