"Absolute Junk - I Regret My Purchase" on by sailingNC
Pros: Nice fit, nice sound
Cons: Customer service, quality of the headphone connector, quality of the wiring, quality of the microphone.
Summary: ABSOLUTE JUNK!! DO NOT PURCHASE.
I am now on my second pair of Tiger Eyes, and can confidently say this purchase was a mistake for the following reasons:
1) Customer Support - horrible
Just to exchange/replace my original defective pair of Tiger Eyes, the process took about a month and cost me $12.00 in return shipping. The people at JayBird take many days (on a good day) to respond to e-mail and RMA requests, and don't communicate very well.
2) Product quality.
The wiring and connection are horrible. My first pair of tiger eyes started to give me static after 2 or 3 uses. On top of that, the microphone stopped working, and I had to constantly "wiggle" the connector around to make it work.
After receiving my replacement pair of Tiger Eyes, I had the exact same problem! I use them once, and start to get static on the line, and when I'm on a phone call, the other party says I sound horrible.
After TWO different pairs of TE1's, and 2 months of frustration, I give up.
(as a comparison, I use the Apple earbuds with mic, and a cheap pair of skullcandy's with my iPhone, and have no problems at all) -
"Avoid like the Bubonic Plague" on by shaunlangley
Pros: The headphones are comfortable and stay in the ear really well. I'm sure they would be comfortable to wear for an extended period of time.
Cons: The sound quality was abysmal. I would rate it as poorer as another $5 pair I bought from best buy. Given the cost $69.99 at Best Buy, I expect much more.
Summary: Like I said, the one good thing I think these headphones have going for them are that they are very comfortable. They would be easy to keep in the ear for a long time.
HOWEVER, the price point for these headphones suggests a much higher quality headphone than what I see. The cord is very thin and doesn't feel durable at all. Particularly, I can see the wires detaching from the buds with mishandling. The biggest problem with the headphones though is the sound quality. When you buy headphones that cost nearly $70, you expect phenomenal sound. What you get is equivalent to a $5 set. The range is weak, with highs over dominating. Avoid these headphones in my opinion. -
"Mic doesn't work, or click controls" on by thassett
Pros: Great sound. Great fit. Great lightweight design.
Cons: Mic doesn't work. Not 100% compatible with the iPhone headphone port. Still haven't heard back from Jaybird support about this. (24 hours later)
Summary: I have an iPhone 3GS, and use both the Apple headphones with Mic, and a pair of Skullcandy headphones with mic. Both of those work great. However, when I plug my tiger eyes into my iPhone in a normal manner, the mic doesn't work! I have to remove it slightly and mess with it to get it to work. Not a good solution.
