"Decent value for the price for battery, quality, signal"3.0 starson by bootsnboards
Pros: Easy to pair, light (but what BT isnt) call quality was fine, easy to use in general. On par of a touch above other devices in its price range in terms of call quality, weight and battery life.
Cons: Fairly limited in range of functions... Not a multi use piece. Use it for your phone or gaming, other than that you're buying nothing else (for those who don't understand that con, there are BT sets which can be used for data xfer, etc)
Summary: Got 6 of the units with a package on a family plan as free extras. Admittedly they weren't something recieved through research and review, but can speak to what we got. In addition, taking into account the price range and the experience most of us now using them other other BT sets on the family plan have had, here is the sum up.
Decent value for the money. In the price range they perform a touch above par in pretty much all areas. For basic signal, battery life and sound quality they did their job just fine. Clear sound, clear mic on the recieving end. Did have one faulty device that was static-y. A replacement was sent that worked fine. Not a device for those who have hearing problems. While the volume is fine for any normal convo under normal circumstances, it doesnt get loud enough to be useful for someone with hearing issues or to be used under extra noisy circumstances (walking through the grocery store, no problem. Listening to the radio and making a call while driving, no problem.... Trying to use it at a ball game while there is cheering and noise, not loud enough, you'll have to swap to your handset)
We tested the range through multiple walls of differing material. Same relative signal quality, sound quality and performance until ca. 35 feet, and then drop off. No warning static that you are getting out of range, just a drop. However, that is basic normal functioning for low end phone BT devices as far as my experience.
Things mentioned above about static and finicky power buttons I'd say were, for the static, a faulty device. I wouldn't assume when you recieve something that it is working as intended if it is so full of static that both you and the caller can hear it and it makes the device almost unuseable.
For the picky power button, that is BT headset norm. Many headsets are controlled soley through the length of time the power button is pressed in order to activate differant features. A 4 second wait for a basic "on/off" function is pretty typical.
So with that all in mind, if yuo have more money to spend and need more functionality, this device will not meet your needs.
Well suited, imo, to the budget minded who intend to use the device primarily for phone calls under normal call conditions.
