Pros After using other top tier headsets on the market, these have the best sound quality, isolation, bass and features to support gaming and online chat. The earcups lend for greater isolation, which gives greater sound quality.
Cons Rather heavy headset sitting kind of tight along the head makes for a slightly "hot ear" experience in the summer time. Large amounts of white noise from the chat input (slightly more than the TB X41) - unnoticeable when in a match or loud gameplay, but
Summary Not quite sure what the review meant by this particular headset "lacking bass", but after reviewing multiple headsets on my own, these bad boys pack a punch and give greater sound clarity than the Turtle Beach X41 headset. I originally thought to myself - the X41s have 50mm speakers, they must be better than the F540s which only have 40mm drivers. The larger speakers do deliver greater quality (5.1 sound), but because of the 'breathable' mesh ear cups, the sound isolation isn't as good and lots of detail and clarity is lost. Because of the pleather cups and tighter fit of the logitech, you get greater isolation, which means greater clarity of all sounds, including bass (BIG BASS).
The one thing Turtle Beach does better is their integration of chat - the chat volume will go up and down with the game volume. Logitech's technology does not do this - you have to manually move the volume on your own in-game. While this isn't a big deal by any stretch, it would have been nice. The Logitech microphone wins big time though - just slide the mic up and it's muted automatically? Genius if you ask me.
While there is a 'degradation' of 5.1 to stereo, really the surround sound offered by Turtle Beach X41s is mild at best. completely surrounding your ears and forcing a surround environment on them is only going to do so much good. Our ear canals are designed to hear things in a 360 degree environment, not a lateral 5.1 area. In my opinion, until the technology is re-designed, a quality stereo headset (like these) is going to give you just as good, if not better quality in pinpointing foes in-game than any current 5.1 or 7.1 headsets on the market.
Of all the top tier headsets available, Logitech wins. With their proven reputation of being reliable in the gadget space, and superior build to the competition, I recommend these OVER the Turtle Beach X41s and any other headset current on the market as of Summer 2011.
Sound clear and bass awesome
Cons Receiver should be Bluetooth and avoid connection to the computer !!
Summary Buy it if you don't use a laptop... Logitech fix that and you reached the top !!
Pros Awesome sound quality. Very clear and best of all NO WIRES. The 3 source input are definitely the distinctive "stand out" feature from competing headsets. Great brand. Reliable and durable. Haven't run out of battery power yet with 4-6 hour sessions.
Cons Some interference occasionally but not enough to get in a fuss over. I'm pretty picky too. Distance of wireless signal is not that far. But the distance they cut out is farther than anyone would be using them for their purpose.
Summary I actually had a pair of Logitech wireless headphones I got 3 or 4 years ago. I lost the receiver that plugs into the auxiliary a month after I got them. They've been stored away ever since, until 3 weeks ago my 2 year old son pulled them out. I called Logitech to see if I could buy the piece. They would have sent it to me for free but they were discontinued. So, they gave me 50% off any related product of which I used to buy this headset. I am extremely satisfied with their customer service and this product. They are a great buy. I can now game and watch movies at night without waking up my wife or kids. And she's very happy too. I use them with my PS3, my XBOX and PC. I've done research on competing brands and this headset I would definitely buy again and pay full price if I had to.
Pros Works great with PS3 and Aux audio. You can use the headphones and home theater audio at the same time.
Great audio through walls and at a distance.
Cons Button feedback a little lacking
Summary I just got this headset to keep the tv down after the kiddos go to bed. It works great with my playstation and I love the multiple inputs, it makes listening to music or an audiobook while doing housework that much easier. One of the first things I did after plugging everything in was to wander around the house and see how the quality holds up. I was able to move anywhere in the house (2500sq ft), into the garage, outside, and around the yard. I didn't see a hiccup, the audio sounded great no matter where I went.
A lot of people complain about the audio feedback from the microphone. This isn't a big deal to me at all, just sounds like talking on a landline telephone. Being that the headphones are noise cancelling, I like being able to hear myself loud and clear when talking instead of the usual muffle from typical noise cancelling gadgets.
My only issue with the headphones are the buttons. There isn't much feedback when pressing the button to switch inputs, so I have to listen for the audio to figure out whether there was a button push. It's a minor issue, but still a bit of an annoyance.
While these are pricey headphones (50% off coupon codes are plentiful on ebay), they are great if you wander around the house while listening to music, or want to listen to one thing (mp3 player) while the family has the home theater on, you don't have to worry about disconnecting and reconnecting cords.
Pros Solid construction. Great Sound. Love the automatic mic muting feature of just raising it up.
Cons A bit hefty.
