Logitech Premium Stereo Headset (with Noise-Canceling Microphone)

I got these for ~$23 at best buy. When I got home I decided to try them out with battlefield 2 (which was also purchased). These to sum it all up, have great sound in game and with movies, videos and the like. Sometimes people have a hard time hearing me in game (though this might be me talking to soft or a software issue), BUT after about an hour or two of use they start to hurt your ears. The little puck thing you see in the picture provided is the thing that allows you to mute the mic, adjust the volume of the headset and it has a clip so it can attach to your shirt.

I got this headset in a bid to replace my broken cheap Staples headset, but I was greatly disappointed in what I got for the price I got it at.

The sound was great on this headset - I have no complaints about the audio quality. I heard crisp and clear sound from all frequencies, and even getting fairly good bass (although later experience showed me that these headphones had only average bass response for the price). Games and music were all great with this headset.

The in-line volume control was pretty good and responsive, though the mic mute switch was a bit too lose, and I found myself having to un-mute it because the switch had been moved either by rubbing against clothing or simply by gravity.

The microphone itself had good enough sound quality, which surprised me a bit because of the tiny receptor. Unfortunately, the "noise-cancelling" microphone was too quiet unless I brought it really close to my mouth. When I put on the headset, the mic boom (which is inflexible and non-telescopic) was too short, and struggled to pick up my voice unless I spoke at above-average volume.

The biggest complaint I have with this headset is the fact that the plastic it's made out of is highly inflexible, and the ear cups are completely circular. The inflexibility of the headband caused the ear cups to press tightly against my slightly-above-average-size head, which caused great discomfort, and when used for more than about 45 minutes, even pain. The ear cups, being completely circular, and made of rather hard material, did not fit my ears at all (and I don't even have big ears). The cups rested on top of my ears rather than around, and even without glasses, crushed the top of my ears and became very uncomfortable. I suppose folks with really soft ears or small ears would have no problems with these, but I was greatly disappointed.

Coming from Logitech, who normally make great ergonomic products (mice and keyboards, for example), I was surprised to find this headset so uncomfortable. For the price, you can get much better headsets from Altec Lansing (Try the AHS502 or AHS602), or even comparable Plantronic headsets at a cheaper price.
