"Great Pair of Headphones!"4.5 starson by Karen4love
Pros: Great sound quality, good noise cancelling
High build quality and play music without batteries
High Bass when powered on
Cons: High Price
Slightly heavier than average
Summary: So I decided to get these over the Noise Isolating Inspirations and I do not regret the decision. I was afraid that like the QC15 from Bose, it would only work well if the ANC is on. You don't have to worry about that here as you can still continue to use it even if it doesn't have batteries. Right out of the box I was impressed with the build quality and creativity that was put into the headset. It also comes with an additional headband to give you a customization option just to be different. One thing I didn't like is the plastic ear cups that go around your ear, I thought it would be a brushed aluminum like the brackets holding the headphones together.Edit:
The Sound - I'm usually very picky when it comes to headphones, especially having had a bunch of "expensive headphones" in my arsenal (Beats Studio, QC15, Monster Ncredible, Beats Pro, Grade 325is, etc etc). I'm very meticulous about the sound that should come out especially when your about to spend 300+. With that said, I'm comfortable in saying that these sound great. Aimed primarily towards hop-hop and dubstep style music, the bass is a bit heavier but better balanced than your "Beats by Dre" branded headphone. Highs and Mids don't take the back seat as they are crisp and fulfilling. You get great sound on or off the ANC as well, its really a matter of wanting to get rid of ambient noise vs loudness of your music.
The Noise Canceling - I originally bought this pair because of the Noise Canceling feature. Lets be clear, the QC15 headphones from Bose is the golden standard of noise cancelation. It gives you a feeling of being almost completely deaf and you can almost not even hear yourself talk unless you speak very loudly. The Monster Inspirations don't come close. When you turn the switch one, it gets rid of very small ambient noise. You would still be able to hear people and yourself talking or the tv if it were on and you had no music playing. Things are very different when your pumping music through the headphones. You can pretty much eliminate all sound when you have the NC feature on and the music at 60%-75%. Personally I'd like to say that the batteries are more for an amp than noise canceling. The headphones get louder and clearer with the switch turned on, always a good option to have for music lovers.
Comfort - I always use it on my commute to school and work and these are very, very comfortable. The ear cups haven't hurt me after long periods of listening despite having the square shape. The also have just the right amount of squeeze in them to keep you from flinging them off or giving yourself a headache.
Overall, I'm beyond satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend these to people who love all types of music thats not just bass heavy. It handles all types of music very well.
