Great Concept - Flawed Implementation

Pros: 1 - No Wires
2 - Reasonably Light and compact
3 - Easy to use
4 - East to pair to device

Cons: 1 - Relatively Poor Sound Quality
2 - Quite uncomfortable for prolonged wear
3 - Not 100% compatible with iPhone 3G / 3GS (OS 3.0)
4 - Headset Mic not sensitive or loud enough
5 - Headphones not loud enough
6 - Prone to interference

Review: The basic concept of this product seems very good, wireless headphones that you take anywhere and not get tagled with the cables. At this, the Morotola HT820 excels! The are reasonably comfortable for short periods, are fairly lightweight, are easy to pair to my device and well, work ok.

I own an Apple iPhone 3G, and when the latest software update introduced A2DP within the bluetooth profiles, I started to look at the HT820's as lots of people seemed to like them. The general advice was make sure your device supports the required protocols, and these are generally good headphones. So I bought a pair.

After a few days use, this is what I found:-

1. They are not 100% compatible with the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. Yes, these phones do support A2DP etc, but the Next and Previous track buttons will not work. This is not a fault of the phones, but of the iPhone, but this for me was deal breaker one. What is the point of having wireless headphones if you have to get your device out of your pocket to change tracks.

2. The sound quality when connected via bluetooth is mediocre at best. All of my music on my iPhone is stored in 256kbit/s AAC, but in my opinion, these headphones make the music tracks sound like they are ripped in 64-128kbit/s MP3. The MIDS are reasonably good and tight, the bottom end is ok but it is at the top end of the scale where things go bad. The treble often sounds like it's being played through water, so that strange ringing sound to the treble permeates the sound. It's not awful, but its not nice either. Connect the headphones via the supplied cable, and it goes away, so it's clearly a bluetooth issue. The same effect was present when I tried a Windows Mobile phone as well.

Having listened to these headphones against my standard Senheisser PX-200 headphones, the PX-200's win hands down, with clean top end, deep bass, and if a little less lacking mid-range.

I am not a audiophile, but the poor sound quality was the second nail in the coffin.

3. I wear glasses, and I have a larger than normal head, and whilst the headphones do fit ok, and are pretty snug on my head, I can tell you that after an hour or so, they do actually start to hurt me. In addition to this, being quite bulky, they do also interfere with my glasses. This is not a major issue, but as I travel a lot, only 1 hour of listening is just not good enough.

4. I liked the idea of the phones supporting the handsfree profile, as my iPhone is used for music and phone calls. The only problem is that the headset whilst performing perfectly well, was just not loud enough to be heard at the other end of the phone line. I had to take them off on three occasions and use my phone directly, which kinda defeats the object.

4. The headphones for me, just didn't go loud enough. I do a lot of travelling for my work, and spend a lot of time on public transport, and on all but the quietest of trains, they just were not loud enough. I can't see (although have not tried) how these would be any good on the London underground (Tube) network or on bus routes. Maybe I am going deaf in my old age, but these are just not loud enough.

5 - In my home, which I will hasten to add has three PC's, a MAC and a wireless router (and all manner of microwaves etc), these headphones exude a slight background buzz. This is not noticable outside, but due to the lack of volume of these phones, often you're listening to the noise outside anyway - you cant hear the buzz. I appreciate this can happen anywhere, but when I want to put my headphones on at home, to relax and listen to some classical music, that buzz just destroys the sound.

This sounds like a long list of moans, but I would say that these headphones are a competent set and may suit a lot of people. Certainly, having the freedom of no wires is very liberating and avoids the rush hour tangle that we have all endured over the years. If you try these and like the sound, functionality and fit, then by all means go and buy them.

If like me, sound quality, functionality and useably provided by other vendors (such as Apple) provide much better performance, then these headphones are a let down and of little use. This certainly seems that the concept was great, but the final realisation of the product didn't meet those conceptual goals.

The quest for comfortable, great sounding and 100% iPhone compatibility continues!

Works great! Sounds Great!

Pros: Pairing is easy, controls work well in media players, sound is as good as pluging in, syncs well with many phones

Cons: Doesn't work well with crappy CPU bluetooth devices, (but what does?) Quit complaining people! its your crappy device not these headphones, get a good one!

Review: Sound quality is amazing for these phones. The quality for phone connection is as good as it gets for now. Pairing with a computer can be difficult if you are using a cheap bluetooth device, ie. one below version 1.2, an extremely old one, or unknown brand. I'd suggest getting a new BT version 2.0+ device, there are many improvements, they are backwards compatible and the range and data rate is massively increased. Do that and you will have no problems with these headphones other than their size and fit.

Not good for Music headset

Pros: -Quick and easy to pair it with your device
-The headsets have a nice design

Cons: -Sound quality for music is poor. No bass so your music does not fill out when listening.

Review: If you are looking to this device to pair with up with a stereo mp3 player, look again. You will be disappointed. I tried these with my N800 and while the pairing was easy, the sound quality was poor. It is literally night and day with this headset and my $8 over the ear wired headset. Until the technology improves, why bother.

Why wasn't this rated by CNET? They're FABULOUS!

Pros: Great volume, fantastic audio quality as headphones, NO FRICKIN' WIRES!, Quite Inexpensive, Standard mini-USB plug for charging, Optional 2.5mm plug for wired sound

Cons: Some controls not intuitive, range is subpar,

Review: This combo headset/headphones are really kick a$$. Honestly, the sound quality of the HT820 will satisfy audiophiles and cord-o-phobes alike. :) I've only had the set less than 24 hours so I'm not about the quality when paired with a mobile phone. Though, I honestly didn't buy it for that... I wanted a fairly large set of headphones so those at work could distinguish when I was listening to music or not and so I could tune out the extraneous noise around me. I work in a very open environment where anything goes sound wise. This particular set has a fantastic built in solution for noise reduction... all the while producing superior sound quality with no buzz, hiss, or "tin can" sound that traditional bluetooth A2DP sets have been known to generate.

Give 'em a shot... I only paid $30 at Staples... and you know, I'd pay the original price of $60 had I known how incredible they were when they first came out.

Great Stereo Sound. Bye Bye wires.

Pros: Great Stereo Sound.
Awesome Bass.
Very convenient button on unit to control tracks.
Great Battery life

Cons: Not great used as a hands free for phone.

Review: Buy this if you want a great stereo bluetooth headset. Not so great as a hands free unit for phone. Then again, aren't you looking at this for music anyway.

Crystal Clear sound quality, good product

Pros: The stuff is great, picked up by my samsung phone and also my bluetooth on my Dell Laptop, tested with a Bluetooth dongle, used the latest IVT Bluesoil 6.0 software. This supports the advanced audio as well and audio + microphone. The sound is GR8.

Cons: The Design, after sometime it feels a bit heavy on your ears. Also it does not have a fixed body no adjustment, so the whole weight goes on the ears after a while.

Review: I did a lot of research before buying a bluetooth device, basically i wanted a sterio wireless headset, i wanted the bluetooth as it better than wireless systems. They have an extra thing attached with my device. The sound is great and the features are great. Though as most of the people reviewed this product to be heavy and not very comfortable. Well i dont disagree but its not that uncomfortable, but yes after 15 mins i do take it out and then put it again :)

Apart from this its great, the most important thing is the sound which is amazing, works perfect for me. Paired up very well, default pairing number is 0000

But do need to charge it for 2 hours before you use for the first time, i like a lot of music and now i am mobile thanks to the Motorola HT 820.

One of my favorite investments!!!

Pros: Comfortable, balanced well enough to jog with. Buttons are large, especially the pause. Great battery life.

Cons: Looks funny (you get questions). Calls used to work well but now degraded.

Review: I bought these off of E-bay about 2 years ago for $50. The best gamble in a while! I use these practically every day while at work. They are not flimsy! I do jog with them on- the are comfy over my large ears. Audio quality is fantastic, its just like listening to a quality, hard-wired over the ear headphone.
I have fallen in love with stereo bluetooth and A2DP devices (even for my car) thanks to these headphones. You will be getting a fun, good quality product.

would never recommend; failed design, cheap quality

Pros: Wireless, O.K. if used for bluetooth phone conversations.

Cons: Horrible sound quality, uncomfortable to wear, bulky, terrible appearance. Unnecessarily big.

Review: Terrible sound quality and static in the high frequency range. People tell me this is a quality of bluetooth headphones in general; i have other wireless headphones that work perfectly fine with high frequency tones.
Terrible appearance (stick out), unnecessarily bulky around the outside of the ear cups (these headphones probably have an excess of wasted plastic and wasted space inside the headphones themselves). not 'ergonomically' designed (not comfortable when you put them on or when worn for long periods of time). To sum up, a waste of $29 (or however much you might have paid). I suggest saving up and getting a more expensive pair, it will be well worth your money.
Come to think of it, its bluetooth/phone capability when making calls isnt even good! The mic does not produce clear sound; if you're looking to have good sound quality conversations, id suggest looking elsewhere.
I would rather use iPod earbuds than these headphones!
Do NOT buy!

Difficult to pair with phone

Pros: Difficult to pair with phone even with Motorola cell phone

Cons: Good desing, comfortable and better than the small ear-bud.

Review: Very difficult to get paired with the cell phone if you don't read the instructions clearly.

I used it with Motorola E680i, V3 and V3i, paired and it's comfortable to talk without holding a phone especially when you drive.

However, my E680i and V3i has a MP3 player, but I can't get it paired with the stereo sounds. I thought it will be matched perfectly with Motorola products. So disappointed.

Otherwise, it's a bit bulky and you have to put it on your neck when you don't use. It may be not comfortable to you.

Push Play & Walk Away.

Pros: Good Range (30-50 feet), Comfortable, Easy to use Controls, Lightweight, Good Battery Life, High Sound Quality.

Cons: Expensive, Motorola's Customer Service is Horrible.

Review: I would Highly recomend these headphones to anyone who Loves their music. The sound is great for a Bluetooth Headset under $200 (unlike Bose). I use mine at work all the time, it's great being able to ignor the people at work while I enjoy some music and I won't miss a phone call because the headphones alert me & allow me to answer the call. Also, when you take a call, it comes through in Stereo, that's right both speakers, it makes hearing in loud envirements easier. I also have the Motorola DC-800 Bluetooth Transciever, it allows me to sync up the headset with any 3.5mm headphone jack or RCA compatable device, which means I can listen to my TV, X-Box 360, PS3 or just about anything else with these Awsome Headhones.

I like the convenience of no wires and the ability to convert it to a wired headset.

Pros: Bluetooth Technology, Can also be used as a phone headset and a wired headset for non-Bluetooth devices, good audio quality, volume cranks when used as a wired headset.

Cons: Doesn't go very loud when used as a wireless stereo headset.

Review: My biggest wish with this headset is the volume could go louder when used as a wireless headset, I think the reason why it is not very loud is probably because the headset's battery has to power both the Bluetooth radio and the speakers, because I tried them wired and the volume really cranks. Other than that, it is an awesome headset and it has the convenience of a cell phone headset and the sound quality is good, but don't use the headset to listen to low bitrate songs because the music sounds garbled, I corrected this problem by putting better quality music on my device which means no converting of files (at the expense of packing more tunes) and the music sounded great, I can't wait to try these with an mp3 cell phone, currently I'm using these with a Sony NW-E003F and a Logitech Bluetooth stereo adapter.

Love good sound? Look elsewhere...

Pros: Versatile, goood looking

Cons: Awful sound quality, aggravating configuration/setup, poor fit

Review: OK, I'm an audiophile, so I have high standards when it comes to sound quality. Even by lay standards though the sound quality from my pc to these Bluetooth headphones was abysmal. Very laggy, very tinny...sounded like it was playing over a $5 transistor radio. The earbuds from my iPod sound MUCH better. The sound quality when using the 'phones as a headset for my phone (Palm 700wx) was just as bad...sounded terrible on my end, echoey on the other end. Wind caused the person I was calling to not be able to hear me AT ALL.

Setup was simultaneously easy (on my phone) and a complete nightmare (on my pc.) I have a Bluetooth adapter that my kb/mouse connect that supports up to 6 simultaneous connections, but since it doesn't have A2DP, it wouldn't work with these 'phones. OK, so I buy the Motorola D200 dongle...and took HOURS to get the thing to not conflict w/ the existing BT adapter, then more for the 'phones to connect to it. Then came the awful sound quality.

Fit? Well, the phones are completely NON adjustable so not only did they hurt my head after a few minutes, they pinched my ears horribly as well.

Luckily, I was able to sell them on eBay for more than I paid, so...

Great Sounding headset. Worth the money. A bit large though.

Pros: Great Sound. Easy connect. Easy to controls for MP3 player or phone

Cons: Headset a bit large for me but the band will bend slightly. Not much more for me to complain about

Review: These have great sound. After spending over $300 for the shure SE420's I am not at all disappointed with the music range, instrument definition or the operation of these phones. I can listen to these with the same satisfaction as the Shure earbuds which are fantastic. I use them with a Verizon XV6800 and a Samsung YP-P2. The headset hooked up with no problem. If you don't mind the size of these you will not be disappointed with the sound. I have wired headsets that cost more and don't sound as good.

Comfy but terrible sound quality

Pros: Comfy, good fit, nice buttons, good for phones

Cons: Quality is not acceptable

Review: I have been a proud owner of the Logitech FreePulse BT headphones for over a year now. However, I just purchased a new PDA Phone and I was looking for some headphones that also had a handsfree feature on them, and I ended up purchasing these on ebay for about 30$. I was initially impressed with the design, the buttons, fit, etc. But when I actually paired it and played some music, I was dissapointed. Compared to the FreePulse, well...let's just say there IS no comparison. These headphones have NO bass, and the sound is very tinny and crackled. It's like I went from a 320kbps MP3 (FreePulse) to a 96kbps MP3 (HT820). Because I have been using the logitech ones for so long and had grown accustomed to them, I was wondering if it was just my own perception that was in the wrong here...so I did a side by side comparison with a couple of my friends and my family members, and they all agreed that the logitech ones sounded much better. So, I guess I will be re-selling these; and until Logitech desides to make an A2DP/Handsfree combo, I will stick with the FreePulse.

Great! (At least with a BlackBerry)

Pros: Sound quality & price...

Cons: The way it fits on my left ear...

Review: Well first off, this is 2008 & I don't think that the HT820 is in production. About a month ago, a co-worker let me try his, and I was impressed. I bought them, the other day, from eBay, and this is the first day I have used them. They are suppose to be new, for approximate $30, not bad. The sound quality is very good. I'm using them on a Verizon BlackBerry Pearl 8130. I was amazed by the phone quality. The couple of people I have talked to said I sounded good. One person I was talking to, I forgot I was talking to him on Bluetooth, I had laid the phone down & went into another room. I then realized that I was a good 15ft from the phone. I could never do that with a standard Bluetooth ear piece. Shortly before I started writing this review, while listening to some mp3's, I decided to get a soda from the kitchen. I was still holding the connection, 20ft - 25ft from the BlueBerry. It may be the headset, it may be the BlackBerry, or it just might be the perfect combination for these two. The only negative is it's a little bit uncomfortable, on my left ear, but then I have been using them for about 6 hours.

I want to end with, get them.

thisclose to PERFECTION

Pros: 1. Amazing sound 2. No WIRES!!! 3. Paired effortlessly 4. Conveniently pauses music, answers calls, the resumes music.

Cons: Mildly uncomfortable, especially when laying down

Review: I bought these because wired headphones were a real annoyance for me, especially when doing active things like yardwork, walking the dog, etc. Also, I wanted a bluetooth headset to use around the house, as I have lousy reception in all but a few choice spots. The HT820s fit the bill, AND HOW!!! The sound is amazing, and considering that they are wireless, they are truly astounding. Clear highs, warm mids, and punchy bass in all the right places. The volume is plentiful, except for some songs which are always low. The convenience of having all the controls on the headphones themselves are not to be underestimated. Also, because my phone (LG Trax) has an excellent handsfree program, I don't even need to touch the phone. I can dial numbers, call anyone on my list, listen to voicemail/messages, and even hear the date and time just by pressing the left ear button and speaking my command into the mic. Simply amazing!

The only negatives I've encountered are a mild discomfort when wearing for extended periods as well as not being able to lay back and becoming consumed by my tunes. As soon as Motorola makes these adjustable in the back, these will be the PERFECT headphones.

Quality Bluetooth and stereo headphone combo with minor issues

Pros: Good stereo music sound, good bluetooth reception, great price

Cons: Size and max volume

Review: This is my first pair of stereo bluetooth headphones and so far they have been very impressive.

I was looking for something I could use as a regular bluetooth as well as a wireless headset to run with. I paired it with my Sony Ericsson w580i and the sound is very impressive. I would compare the stereo music sound quality to almost the quality of noise canceling headphones. I can not attest to the sound with other phones. It is also nice to have calls recived in stereo.

The controls on the headset make sense and work well with a little practice.

My only issues are the size of the earphones and the max volume. The earphones are a little cumbersome and look a little like earmuffs when on. This is really a minor issue given the quality and price I paid for these. The max volume is definitely adequate but some may find it too low. This comment is really only for those who like their music very loud.

I paid $29 for these at shopcell.com. Great price for the quality.

Excellent headphones

Pros: Decent sound quality, good usability with phone and VOIP

Cons: Can't use while driving, discomfort in beginning, not loud enough in some applications

Review: These phones are excellent in the office and while walking/exercizing. The sound quality is good, and the bluetooth range is average.

It did take about a week of use for my ears to get conditioned to the slight pinching from the headphone structure. It is now hardly noticable.

Good fit with my HTC Mogul 6800 cell phone and laptop.

An Average Product

Pros: Comfortable to weat, Durable Armband

Cons: Poor Audio Quality, Poor Pairing Ability

Review: The HT820 is a durable headset and comfortable to wear. When working properly the HT820 has respectable stereo sound for listening to music. It is also easy to pair with a cell phone.

This headset could use some improvement. Specifically,

-It is time consuming to get this headset to pair with my computer. You need to turn off the headset completely, turn it back on until the blue light is solid, then use the prepackaged Bluetooth program to connect to the HT820 and then enter the passkey.

-It has terrible audio quality for VOIP. Most people state that they can hardly hear me.

I would not recommend the HT820 if you plan to use this headset with a computer.

Great for Music and Calls

Pros: Easy Paring, Loud, great on music, and calls both ways

Cons: None Really...Big when compared to inner ear BT headsets

Review: I have used 5 different BT earpieces over the past few years. I bought these off ebay "like new" for $37 2 weeks ago including shipping and have been very impressed. They don't feel heavy on my head as some have posted, but I am 6'3" 220pds with a bald head so maybe that makes a difference...LOL. Headset paired easily with my Sprint Mogul (PPC-6800), Music play is great, call quality is great on both ends, while driving people said they couldn't tell I was on a headset. You can really go a far distance with them from your device. They have a very very long battery life, where I only have to charge them once every 5 days or more. I don't know where all the negative comments come from, they do what the specs say they are supposed to do.

this is awesome in the gym

Pros: bluetooth stereo is a great idea

Cons: hurts the ear when worn for a long time

Review: This is a pretty neat headphone. My co-workers laugh at me when they see my phone on the console and me grooving to the music 20ft away....Make sure you have AD2P....if you don't IT WON'T WORK!!!!!
go to www.shopcell.com
you will find the best price....I paid 38 bucks...with shipping

Fantastic! I don't understand the negative comments?

Pros: Great sound, pairs easily and mostly comfortable.

Cons: Adjustable back band would be nice.

Review: I use these headphones with my LG8550 and they work great. Sound Quality is excellent and they never drop the call. People I talk to say they hear me so much better than with my old Plantronics bluetooth headset.
I've also used them paired to my Dell PDA and that was easily done and works great.
Battery life is very good and they come with a nice carry pouch. They are big so they are noticeable for wearing around the office, etc.
I sincerely don't understand the negative comments as my experience has been very positive.

Hi ho hi ho its back to the store it goes

Pros: Not bad sound for the 70's

Cons: Static, poor microphone, calls cut out

Review: I have been using headphones since the very early 70's and the sound on these compares very favourably with those early models. Actually they aren't bad, in fact I heard things on Abbey Road that I have never heard before, i.e. Ringo rustling paper and George playing the static generator.

I bought these so I could make calls while walking the dog and listen to music while cycling home. I can't use them for calls because the sound cuts out when I move my head or bend over. It doesn't cut out if I hold the phone (LG 8600) close to them but that sort of defeats the purpose. As for the microphone, my first call was to my mother and without a word of a lie she thought it was a crank call - she couldn't tell it was me which should say something.

As for the music - the sound is not too bad but there is a lot of static on the right ear. But everything works out well if you have faith, the sound may have been bad but the fit over my glasses was so uncomfortable that the sound quality was irrelevant. In 35 years of listening to headphones these were undoubtedly the most uncomfortable things I have ever used.

Back to the store they go!

Most of the reviewers here are brain dead!

Pros: It's made by Motorola, long range, good battery life, no static, works with Sprint radio and TV.

Cons: You can't listen to movies through media player, no visual indicator for battery life.

Review: I really can't stand Cnet because reviewers can write 1 line and not even give a reason why they do not like a product. That is the case for the Motorola HT820. The reviews I have read here are so pointless and stupid. I will keep mine to the point.

I purchased the Motorola HT820 because I listen to Sprint radio a lot, and I mean A LOT. When I am working out at the gym and jogging. Up to now I have been using a normal set of Sony headphones with a 2.5mm adapter. I have torn through 2 headphones in the past few months doing this. The cord gets caught and rips. Plus the adapter creates lots of static when it is moved around. When I saw the HT820 on Attack of the Show I thought it would be perfect for me, which it has been.

The pros:
1. Very clear sound, better then most headphones I have tried, and better then every single Bluetooth set.
2. Long range. I don't even have to have my phone on me, just near me. I can work out on my heavy bag with my cell phone safely across the room.
3. Pretty good battery life.
4. No static when within range.
5. Full stereo sound.
6. Comfortable feel when around head or neck.
7. Voice sound is clear.

Cons:
1. No LCD visual battery life indicator. So you have to go by the indicator lights
2. You can't hear the sound from movies and video clips through the media player. You can listen to the TV and movies through the Sprint TV application or through the media player, but not your own 3GP files.
3. Too large to wear around your head when you drive. But you can, just don't have both speakers over both your ears.

So overall this is a great Bluetooth device. I'm sure with future generations the cons will be corrected. When a company like Motorola designs somethings like this, they plan on upgrading it for a longtime to come. Also keep in mind that I have NOT used this headset with any other carriers devices, so I have no idea how they will hold up. Verizon has all kinds of Bluetooth limitations, so this headset may not work for media content at all. So check to make sure it will work with your device.

Motorola could have made these a lot better. Sound quality is good, sound volume is below par.

Pros: Sound quality, linked up very easily

Cons: Poor fit when running with them, sound volume was too low, ugly look when wearing them

Review: These headphones stink. First, the look of the headphones when you are wearing them is horrible. You look like Princess Leia from Star wars. Second, the sound quality was awesome, when you could hear it. These things are not loud enough. I used them 4 times in the gym and when I heard the music the gym was playing over mine, I was done. Other then the style of them and the volume they were great head phones. Bass was very nice and treble was clean and easy one the ears.

WOW! Totally Awesome!

Pros: Sounds, Battery life, style....

Cons: The weight .........

Review: I have to say, these are ideal headphones for using your cell phone or PC. I use them mainly on my desktop PC. I use the A2DP profile for audio. I have to say wow. It rocks! This the beginning of the end for wired headphones and headsets. I have this paired with a treo700wx and also a Trendnet USB 2.0 adapter. Works awesome. Only problem it drops the audio and gets choppy once in a while, nothing major. It wireless, I expect a few problems!!

Decent playback sound; useless for phonecalls esp. while moving; will return for something better

Pros: Decent sound quality for music playback, intuitive button design, ok price

Cons: Not very loud, unusable under windy conditions, poor noise cancellation, BT pairing is clumsy/difficult

Review: These headphones sound pretty good and that's about it. If you are a cyclist the sound quality on the receiving end is unbearable and echoes esp. while in motion. I had two separate calls end bc the recipient refused to talk over these headphones once while sitting still and once while cycling. (note: I use a Samsung Wafer which already has known echo issues.)

The over the ear design looks cool but tends to chafe and is not secure if you are running/hopping curbs on your bike. If you regularly pair this phone with multiple devices you will find these headphones to be a nightmare. I found the pairing to be a new adventure each time with inconsistent setups while switching between two phones. Usually you have to start from scratch and pair to each device as if it were the first time(annoying).

If these were mine and not my roommate's they would have been returned the first day. I am going to try out the Jabra stereo bt headset next. This just isn't quite worth 80 bucks unless you only use them to listen to music.

No sir, I don't like it...

Pros: Wireless, cool blue glow(?)

Cons: Uncomfortabe after a small while, not all advertised functions necessarily work

Review: I bought this headset for the dual purpose of VOIP calls and for my mobile phone (both phone calls and music). With a solid bluetooth connection (as you might get with a computer, rather than outside with your mobile phone), the quality of music playback is fine (I'm not an audiophile) and for telecommunications I've had no problems. There are many drawbacks ranging from niggles to hassles and a lack of functionality that have marred my experience with this headset.
If you wear glasses regularly and/or are likely to be wearing glasses while using your headset then don't even consider buying these. Due to the small size of the ear peices and the method use to keep them in place (they clamp onto your head from behind rather than rest across (and spoil!) your hair(style)), they pinch your ears against the arms of your glasses. The pain increases proportionally to the length of continuous listening until you have to decide whether to continue listening to your music in pain or quit and give your ears a rest. Without glasses, you should be able to wear these much longer but not indefinitely.
The soft coverings for each earpeice comes off by turning gently anticlockwise (and clicks back into place by turning clockwise). I nearly lost one of my earpeices (my boss happened to find it and ask if it was mine) and this was the first time I realised they could be (so easily) removed. They have fallen off several times since but thankfully, I've noticed each time.
Compatibility with other devices varies. With my Orange/HTC C550 mobile, I can only alter the volume (since this doesn't involve communication with the phone) and the forward/backward/pause buttons don't work. Further, I have to repair with my computer for every use and after pairing with my phone and subsequently using with my computer, I have to re-pair them with my phone again in order to get it to recognise the headset. This is despite the supposed ability of the headset to save pairings with up to eight different devices.
A minor niggle that might be worth mentioning is the slip of the "neckband" further and further downwards under its own weight until its forcing your head downwards and needs to be corrected. This could be improved by increasing the grip (friction, not force!) against your ears, but I probably wont be buying another pair of headphones with this style of neckband.
The cool pulsing blue light only comes from the left earpeice, despite the fact that both earpeices have blue lights (the right one lights up too during charging). Not that it matters, because no amount of cool blue glow can make up for the other issues I've outlined already.

Very uncomfortable. It feels like it wants to cut my ears especially while wearing glasses

Pros: Fairly good sound, but no better than a $10.00 pair of wired headphones

Cons: Most uncomfortable pairs of headphones I ever put on.

Review: I was hoping that these headphones would be better with all of the good reviews on Cnet, but I was disappointed how uncomfortable they are. I also had some problems with the bluetooth locking up my Motorola V3xx phone. One time I had to remove the phone's battery to get the phone to unfreeze itself. The sound quality is good, but not excellent. No better than a cheap pair of wired headphones. I can't understand why they didn't make these phones with an adjustable headset that went on top of your head instead of behind your head. They would have been much more comfortable, since all of the weight wouldn't be placed on your ears with that plastic cutting into your ears. I am returning these head phones, since they hurt so much.

More trouble than they're worth.

Pros: Decent sound quality and range

Cons: Uncomfortable to wear, unpredictable connectivity

Review: I used these on my PC with the Jensen WBT341 USB adapter, and the experience was quite frustrating. I'm not sure if it's a Windows issue, but I installed the current software (Blue Soleil) and did everything right. My machine has the current audio drivers and 4GB of RAM. Sometimes they would work beautifully and connect on the first try, sometimes it was an epic struggle involving plugging/unplugging, switching on/off, re-pairing and re-booting. This happens on every computer I try them on (work, home, laptop). I was using them today and suddenly the sound started cutting out in steady pulses. I've had enough; I'd rather trip over the cord of my wired headphones than waste another second with these things.

As if that wasn't enough, they're VERY uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, even a half hour. I don't even have a big head and they still squeeze behind my ears.

Their only saving grace is that if you do miraculously get them to work, the sound quality is good, and they have an effective range of about 30-40 feet, through cubicle walls.

They Get The Job Done, But Room For Improvement

Pros: Fairly comfortable, decent sound quality (both phone & stereo), maintain connection up to 30m.

Cons: Pads fall off easily, not adjustable for different head sizes

Review: These get the job done, but they could be better. While the sound quality is pretty decent, much cheaper wired headphones produce a much better response range (some Sony's for $20 sound far better). These headphones work reliably with my LG Env and with a Jabra A120s Music Adapter plugged into various devices. I wear them practically all day with no discomfort; although, they aren't as snug as I'd like them to be. The foam pads do NOT attach very securely to the earpieces, so losing them is a distinct possibility. Since Motorola hasn't made replacements available, a drop of Super Glue is what I'm using for security's sake.

For convenience and on-the-go stereo, these are great. For a true audiophile, you might be stuck with wired headphones a bit longer.

Do the job very well

Pros: good qaulity sound

Cons: about 16 -17 feet max range.

Review: The sound quality is pretty good, not proffesional but I am not a proffesional , the reception is good up to around 16 or 17 feet after that its a bit choppy. The mic works well with skype, and with a mini pc cable you can charge them from the pc which is great for travelling (one less adapter to lug around)

Heavy,Ugly Poor Quality Moto Junk

Pros: Sound quality is good on my phone but not much better than the included stereo earbuds

Cons: Size, weight, just plain ugly design. people laugh when they see them

Review: Got these on sale at Best Buy for 79.95 and thought that was a decent deal. but not really these are heavy poorly designed junk. sound quality was fine but since the headset is so heavy i can't stand using it. reception is not that great, kept cutting out just a few feet from my phone. if you can get these for about $20 i would say they were worth it but anything over that is a joke.

I almost can't imagine them being any better

Pros: Amazing sound quality, light weight, lots of controls, easy to use, bluetooth!

Cons: not the most comfortable of all time, but not bad

Review: All the people complaining don't know what they're talking about - obviously before you go out and spend $80 or $100 on a pair of headphones, you need to make sure that they'll work with your device first!!! This means your device must support A2DP, which is certainly not the case for most bluetooth items (save for newer ones). Assuming your device supports this standard, you will absolutely not be disappointed with these. What blew me away the most is the incredible sound quality. The bass is very full and rich sounding with no distortion and without overpowering the mids and highs....it's all crystal clear and couldn't sound much better. I've yet to hear any sort of distortion/etc. whatsoever (and for what it's worth I've been a musician for 20 years). Also, they get very loud and have truly great battery life. I love the controls - the ability to adjust the volume, skip tracks, make calls, answer the other line, do three way calling, etc. all w/out touching your phone is very cool.

I am using these w/ my LG VX8500 Chocolate and couldn't be happier. The setup was very simple and the quality of both the speakers and the mic are truly excellent.
Updated
Also just wanted to note about the Chocolate that the setup is just one simple connection and that covers both phone calls and music - you can connect to two separate devices, though, if you have one phone and another for music.

Top of the line!

Pros: Easily pairs, comfortable, Light weight

Cons: Only if in prison

Review: Upon receiving my HT820 headset, I charged it for 2 hours as directed. Then I began to get it operational. It took a very short time to pair it up with my HX4700 pocket pc and I was listening to excellent streaming music! All the remote controls worked flawlessly.

Next it was my laptop. I had no problem setting this up and it took no time at all. I was able to listen to my music everywhere in my apartment. All remote controls worked and it is great to have these abilities.

Now it was time to set it up as a headset to use on my VoIP connection through my computer. A simple click and it was ready to go. I made my call, the person on the other end was received clearly and they could hear me better then my wired headset!

The headset has plenty of volume and for the most part, I have it about 1/2 to 3/4 of the full volume.

I had it operational for over 8 hours off the first charge and room for more play time.

I used the included cable for non-bluetooth devices and the sound was great.

The headset was worn for about 6 hours straight with no pain or dicomfort.
Updated
I am also using the Aluratek ABD2020 USB Device with these headsets. It is a great BT addition as it provides 3 Mb traffic and supports A2DP and AVRCP for the headset. At about $15, it is a great deal and provides all the functionality needed for the headset.

The perfect companion for a music-phone

Pros: battery life, sound quality

Cons: hard to work with when they freeze

Review: These are the perfect companion for the LG Chocolate music phone. I hardly leave home without them, and got rid of another mp3 player and portable CD player.

I also use a Bluetooth dongle from TigerDirect and the BlueSoleil software for use on my PC. It's a good pairing with excellent range.

My only issue is in the four months I've owned them, they've "frozen" twice and wouln't respond to any input for a few minutes.

Good....with the right phone I guess

Pros: Great sound and controls

Cons: Bluetooth standard

Review: I use mine with my SE k790a and it cuts out here and there if I move my head a certain way or bend over with them on.
The phone is clipped to my belt. I haven't had this problem with any of my other bluetooth devices, only the headphones.
I have heard that the bluetooth standard can be different between different venders of bluetooth items.
Either way, they sound great, maybe Im the only one with this problem....I don't know.

Great Stereo, Poor Phone

Pros: This is a great sounding, wireless stereo headset

Cons: Poor voice quality

Review: If you are looking for strickly a wireless, stereo headset, go no further. This unit is reasonably comfortable and sounds great for a wireless. However if you want to use this as a wireless connection to your phone, I'd try another product. I found that no matter where I was located (and how close I was to the phone) the person on the other end said I sounded like I was in a can. The sound was discribed as similar to old speaker phones. I tried unpairing and repairing to no avail. I was so happy with the sound I tried a new set, still no luck.

Smart design, great sound

Pros: Really nice sound, and no wires!!!

Cons: Odd looking on your head.

Review: What a great gadget! It fits my fat head quite nicely and the sound is really quite good. I use them with my LG VX8600 cell phone/mp3 player. The Bluetooth pairing went smoothly and they worked great the very first try. Some other reviewers complained about the sound cutting out, but I haven't found this to be the case at all as long as I'm not more than 15 feet from my phone. It says you can be 30 feet away, but that probably depends on the other device as much as anything. The only problem - and this could be a problem with the phone - is that the lowest volume setting is actually a middle volume setting. Unless I was in a noisy environment, I would only occasionally listen to it much louder than the lowest setting, but it would be nice to be able to bring the volume down a little more. Other detractors: 1) the build quality is cheaper than I expected, but not too bad really. It's kind of plasticy, and the buttons feel cheap. 2) they look kind of geeky on my head. They stick out on the sides too much for their size (they are smaller than they look in the photos). I'm sure the second generation product will be a little sexier, but these are cool nonetheless. The sound and convenience more than make up for the faults.

Excellent with the right Bluetooth Adapter

Pros: No cords, excellent battery life, good range, good sound

Cons: neck band cannot be adjusted, could use battery stat LED

Review: I purchased these headphones and attempted to use them with my built in Bluetooth. The experience was horrible. The audio sounded worse than my local am news radio station. I ordered motorola's bluetooth adapter and now everything works like great. I have the headset paired with my phone as well.

Awesome Wireless Headphones!

Pros: Great Sound, !Wireless!, Battery Life, comes with 3.5mm audio jack for wired listening

Cons: Uncomfortable over time. slightly tinny sound

Review: I bought the Motorola HT820 about three months ago and have found it hard to put them down! These headphones are great! I use the HT820 with my Cingular 8125(with the A2DP Hack) and the sound is amazing. The bass and treble are very good and much more than I expected from wireless headphones. The HT820 can also operate as a Bluetooth headset with its built in microphone. e.g. Say you are listening to music from your phone, when you receive a call the music will automatically pause. Press the left "M" button to answer the call. When your finished with the call simply press the right "M" button to resume listening to your music. !Cool!. On the negative side, the HT820 can grow uncomfortable after prolonged periods of listening (3hrs). Also vocals seem to have a slight (and I mean slight) tinny sound when listening wirelessly. If you have an A2DP enabled phone, I would definitely recommend the Motorola HT820.

They work Great

Pros: Great sound with music or phone

Cons: Uncomfortable after an 1/2 hour or more, I look like a dork (even more so than usual)

Review: You must have a Bluetooth device (phone, laptop, mp3 player...) that supports the Bluetooth A2DP. If you do not, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! With that said, these things are way cool. I have it paired with a LG Chocolate. The headphones connect as a headset and as headphones. Music sound quality is awsome and work at least 25ft away (even more). The included instructions are vague. Being I only had to pair these with my phone, set up was a snap. I have only had these for a day, so I can not comment on battery life (1 hour so far). They use the same chargers as the RAZR. They can be a bit uncomfortable after wearing them for extended periods. You will look like a ******* with these things on you head, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice in the name of techie coolness.

Great debut for these stereo bluetooth headphones

Pros: Quality Build, Doesn't look cheap, Wireless never looked and sounded this good

Cons: A little bulky on the ears, no adjustment band, sound is ALMOST perfect, actual headphones come in grey/silver, not black/grey

Review: Just know that to fully maximize the capabilities of these headphones, you must connect it to a mobile device that supports Bluetooth 2.0 Stereo (AD2P). If your device doesn't have this then don't bother. So when you are ready, and you put these headphones on you will realize that although the sound quality is not PERFECT, the bass and treble levels are enough to enjoy your music in a wireless world. The button controls on the sides (prev. track/next track , volume up/down) are perfectly placed on the earpiece so you never have to reach out to your phone. I use these headphones w/ my Sony Ericsson K800i and they work together seamlessly. So until Motorola comes out w/ their next generation Bluetooth Stereo Headphones, this is currently the BEST OUT THERE.

Ouch! My head hurts.

Pros: Good concept.

Cons: Heavy on my ears. Tight around my big head. Limited use. No MP3. Poor sound, $100 disposable unit when the battery stops charging

Review: Poor instructions and Motorola offers no information from their website. Too many limitations. I had no idea what I was buying. It does nothing I want it to do. Won't play my MP3 files. Only works on my MIDI files on my computer. Mono sound from my stereo cell phone. Makes annoying static sound from my right ear. Back to the store I bought it from.

Overall great quality -- Make sure you have a source for A2DP profiles

Pros: Solid feel, quick charge, uses standard USB mini charger

Cons: Does not work for music with RAZR with iTunes

Review: I recently purchased the Moto RAZR with iTunes from Cingular. I caught a glimpse of these headphones on one of the moto marketing websites. I had a hard time finding the compatibility chart for either my phone or the headphones, so I just bought them.

I was very impressed with the quality of these headpones. They feel very solid, but not too heavy. They come with a very nice crushed velvet carrying case, with pockets for the charger and supplied audio cable. Unlike some other models, this one includes an option for wired headphones and even includes the cables.

The reason I'm returning them is the fact that my RAZR doesn't support the requried A2DP audio profile to allow me to hear the higher quality music. It works fine for the headset profile. It was very easy to pair with my phone, but because I can't listen to iTunes with these phones, I've gotta take them back. The headset functionality was very nice. It seemed to pick up my voice very well, and hearing the person I'm talking to in stero was different and nice.

It seems that phones that support this A2DP bluetooth profile are just on the cutting edge of coming out. I read on www.phonescoop.com that a new SLVR has been announced that will support this profile. The supporpt guy at Motorola said the Q supports it, and I'm sure other PDA type phones already support it. Make sure your phone or device supports this profile, or be prepared to return them.

Because I have no source for this A2DP profile, I can't comment on the quality of the sound, but if its anything like the other measures of quality for this product, It will be top notch.

nuff respect

Pros: Easy to setup, controls are self explantory, sound is good can't go wrong with this one

Cons: sticks out a bit on my ears, I can deal with that.

Review: I have a t-mobile vario 2, wasn't sure if it would work belived I would have to flash the rom. However awe & wonder worked straight outa da box. Sounds great for bluetooth stereo headset. I would recommend buying as a first wireless stereo headset you will not be disappointed.

Definitely Worth The Money

Pros: Sound is great; Multiple controls on headset; Good Range

Cons: Dormant battery drain; un-snug ear fit; intermittent dropouts

Review: You can only utilize the HT820 on certain phones right now. It is compatible with my LG Chocolate and it sounds really, really good playing my mp3's through the HT820. But because you cannot adjust the fit, I find that the headphone cups lift off my ear a little bit. When I use my hands to hold both L and R phones snug to my ear, the sound is phenomenal. Too bad you can't go around listening like that. Pairing was simple and once paired, the phone easily recognizes the HT820 as soon as I power it on. You can adjust volume, skip tracks forward or back and take calls by using headset buttons. The Bluetooth function is very impressive. The range is really good. More than 30 feet if there are no obstructions. Sometimes, music play will cut out for an instant but it happens so seldom that it's almost not worth mentioning. If a call comes in while listening to music, the music pauses while you are on the call and picks up at the same spot when the call ends. The stereo sound while on a call is a nice change from the single earbud and the invisible microphone which is built into the R headphone works great. The other person does not hear echo or robotic voices. It comes with a wire adapter so you can use the headphones if the battery dies or if you just prefer being connected to your device via wire. (So 5 years ago) Speaking of the battery, it seems to get about 5 hours per charge. But I have noticed that if I use the headset for only a few hours and then let them sit for even just a day of non-use, there isn't even enough juice to power the headset ON. The construction seems a little cheap. After only a few minutes of handling, the little, plastic Motorola logo on the back of the headband fell off and the seams between plastic pieces appear to be haphazardly glued. But for the ease of pairing and ease of use combined with the convenience of hands-free use and great stereo sound, I recommend the HT820 and am sure Motorola's next upgrade will be even better. I love these things in spite of the cons.

I love the Motorola HT820 for my first Bluetooth Headset.

Pros: Good sound, small, charge from USB port, connects to icombi AP21 iPod device for great music sound, Works with my phone and cuts music when phone rings.

Cons: not comfy, poor build quality, very average batter (about 1 1/2 hrs)

Review: I purchased these in Singapore two weeks ago and only got them delivered to Australia yesturday (didn't think they were coming). They have good sound reproduction and for my running I love it because I normally get close to pulling my iPod off of the treadmill stand. Also the sound quality of calls is far better than any other headset I have used, even better than using the actual mobile phone (O2 XDA II mini) All in all I could not be happier. I have a great headset that is wired so when I am at the computer I use them. But when I am at the gym listening to music or in the car making phonecalls this is a great headset. It is not the most comfortable but didn't actually hurt until I was using them for about two hours. I also have a very big (in physical dimentions) head so a smaller headed person might enjoy them more. The build quality of this set is very average. They look good from a distance but up close they are more than average particularly there is glue leeching out from some areas. Overall I think they are great.

Great Headset- Limited Cell Phones to Work With

Pros: Good sound, good range and battery life

Cons: Better control labels would be helpful- Expensive

Review: Don't blame Motorola for the limited number of cell phones that these work with in the US market! More are coming, just be sure that yours is on the list BEFORE buying. Chocolate and the Q are it as of today of phones sold by US companies. There are a number of GSM phones in the overseas market that could be used with unlocked phones. But back the headset.
First, Motorola has an advantage here that other 'headset only' companies don't have- they can build a set that will work with the standard Motorola phone travel and car chargers giving you more flexibility in keeping them charged. They have good battery life but batteries always do need to be charged at some point!
Second, being a completely over the ear stereo headset doesn't allow them to be used for driving- earbuds let you drop one out and still use them for driving.
Next, it would be nice if Motorola had a kit with a Bluetooth adaptor for your home stereo so that out of the box you could use these with other sources. The list price that these are at should be enough to include both- others do.
Finally I wish the buttons were labeled in some way to avoid having to go back to the manual all the time to find out what the controls do- some are simple, some are harder to remember.
If you enjoy listening to music with full ear headsets, then you'll appreciate the cordless freedom these will give you!

Looks good but sounds bad and hurts your ears.

Pros: Great looking design.

Cons: Poor sound quality, uncomfortable to wear.

Review: I've read that maybe you can improve the sound quality of these by using a specific type of Blue Tooth transmitter, which I will have to look for. As for now, they sound awful and are fairly uncomfortable to wear.

THESE SUCK!!!!!!

Pros: Cutting the wires

Cons: Still need wires to get them to work (***)

Review: Have them on right now and they don't work seamlessly or consistently with my bluetooth enabled laptop. They are so heavy that I have a headache from using them. Will try to palm them off on my boyfriend if we can get them to work on his Libretto.

The fact that you can't use the full functionality with Motorola bluetooth phones is inexcusable and poor design. If I wanted a just a pair of bluetooth headphones I'd have purchased the another (cheaper set). Hope the Q isn't this much of a lemon.

Great Sound

Pros: NO wires, great sound

Cons: unadjustable sizing

Review: I have had these for about four days and am very pleased with the sound quality and def enjoy the features of the AVRCP. I can be doing something away from my desk and change the track! Range is decent throughout my apartment but the earbud do seem to stick out a little. The only real complaint i have about this headsets is that there is no way to adjust their size and for those who dont have a big head you may find them sitting a couple of inches from the back of your head! All in all a great peice of work, now if only motorola can make them in an adjustable or even a smaller size for the rest of us.

very impressive audio quality and function list, if you can hack/workaround (see opinion)

Pros: 8 buttons on headset, optional wired connection. The mic picks up well

Cons: high quality audio (a2dp) profile must be hacked on win xp due to copyright protection.(see opinion section for workaround)

Review: a2dp is the profile/standard for high quality bluetooth audio streaming. Due to copyright protection and limited support (as of now anyways) most win XP users will need to employ a hack/workaround to get a2dp quality audio. If you can get this to work... wow! the audio quality is amazing.

The headset supports functions such as volume +/-, switch song/track up or down, start/stop on an a2dp. The headset will simultaneously connect to a mobile phone and a2dp audio device. The headset will automatically pause music playback when a call comes in. Motorola is not helpful in solving the a2dp profile problem.

Workaround:

I downloaded IVT BlueSoleil version 1.4.9.5 to control my onboard bluetooth connection. This solved the problem. Be advised, this does not work for everyone. Some have had to hack registry entries to disable to a2dp copyright protection.

The beginning of the end for wired headphones

Pros: Superb sound quality, excellent battery life, comfortable and snug fitting

Cons: setup isn't for anyone, size may be slightly too large

Review: Where to begin...I want to point out the biggest drawback of this device, the installation. The unit can connect two ways to a bluetooth device, as a headset or a high quality audio device. The latter requires a special bluetooth profile called A2DP(advanced audio distribution profile). Motorola does state this a few times amongst the manual but that is only on their end. It took me the better part of the day to figure out what that profile was and if my PDA (IPAQ hx2415) came with it. It didn't. The unit still connected with the headphones but the sound quality was poor and volume was low. That was due to the pda recognizing it as a headset and not using the A2DP. Once I was able to localize an update for the pda which contained it (another two hours) is when I was blown away.
It my just be me, but when I put the headphones on and look at myself in the mirror, I look like the sony alien from those walkman commercials a few years ago. Them seem to buldge outwards just a tad, but since it's the first gen and considering everything that motorola is cramming into the device, it's not that bad.
Nobody can argue the sound quality of the headphones, I am utterly amazed at the performance and the stability of the bluetooth connection. It wraps nicely around your head and the buttons are conviniently located. I can dump my pda in my bag and skip through my tracks using the provided fwd and rev buttons. There is also volume control, a play/pause button and the sync button. Oh, I almost forgot the best part, you can sync it with your bt phone and take calls!! Better yet, the unit lowers the volume when a call comes in and alerts your with a beep. The push of the left M button picks up the call. The built in mic is awesome, due in part to digital signal processing. Once the conversation is over you can return back to your music without a hitch. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for wireless headphones or who enjoys listening to music and also doesn't want a bt headset that you can lose at any moment. Happy jamming!
