Motorola S9-HD Headset (Black)

Pros: What is good about it? Well, it worked. I changed the ear-pads around, and it went from painful to tolerable. The "pause" button worked. I made calls, and some complained about the audio, some did not.

Cons: Well, it quit working! On day three.

Summary: This behind the head design is NOT COMFORTABLE. I will look for the kind that hang the weight of the device on ear-loops next time I buy. The bluetooth radio antenna is in the middle of the band in the back, behind your head. You'll lose signal and the sound will "cut out" if the signal has to attempt to penetrate your flesh. Most of the weight of the unit is in the middle of the headband, behind your head. It would be more comfortable if the weight was just behind each ear (so I think)... The signal strength issue is part from a weak transmitter (the iphone 3gs) and LOUSY ANTENNA PLACEMENT (the headset). When mine quit, I noticed that plugging it in to charge, the LED lit up PURPLE, which is not listed in the manual (red, yellow, green are defined in the manual). Motorola's on-line chat was very frustrating, as their software told me I was nth in line (third, first, second, fourth) and then, after a few minutes wait, SESSION CANCELLED TRY AGAIN LATER... When I finally got through, I asked for a button-pressing sequence to try to RESET THE S9-HD and I was told to plug it in to charge, and to press ALL THREE LEFT-ear buttons (the volume up, volume down, and the phone button, simultaneously, while plugged into the charger) ... that did nothing. Then, the nice person told me how Motorola would replace my headset. Where is the six-sigma quality, Motorola?
Out running with my iphone on my left bicep (so I could see and manipulate the iphone screen).... it cut out a lot. I had to twist the iphone around to the BACK OF MY ARM, or put the iphone into MY BACK POCKET, or carry the iphone in a fanny-pack on my fanny, in order to hear consistently. Inside a car, where there are lots of metal objects for the signal to reflect off of, the audio never cut out, but with nothing around you ... lots of cut-outs. Even with the iphone in an arm-band, twisted around to the back of my left arm, if I LOOKED to my left (which put the motorola antenna over my right shoulder) the audio would cut out. Conversely, looking to my right guaranteed good signal strength. The fanny pack solution worked the best, and it is better than wires! Just wish the headset kept working... The headset is not loud enough. The ear-holes and their pads permit a good awareness of noises and sounds around you, but you can crank the sound up to the max and still lose words from your podcast from ordinary noises.
