"READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY BLUETOOTH!" on by mgibboni
Pros: Size, Sound Clarity, Fit, Coolness-Factor
Cons: Price....uhhh, yup just that.
Summary: Ok - so here goes. This may be a long read, but I consider myself the Prince of Bluetooth headsets, so I hope it helps someone make a smart buying decision.
First off, go buy this headset RIGHT NOW!
I have used the following headsets in the past two years with a Nokia phone, LG phone, and a Blackberry:
Motorola H300: Zero volume and flopped around on my ear.
Plantronics Voyager 510: A bit large w/ tiny behind the ear volume control.
Plantronics Explorer 320: Hurt my inner ear.
Plantronics Discovery 640: A decent headset, but cheaply made for the price and recently broke on me.
Jabra BT250: Large, moved out of place everytime I turned my head.
Jabra BT800: HUGE, HEAVY - didn't perform like the specs say it should.
Jabra JX10: Not bad, but cheap parts for $179.00 - also too much static.
Blueant X3 Micro: Horrible echo on other end.
Thank goodness Best Buy has a return policy, cause I sent 'em all back to the rack !(except Discovery 640)
As you can tell, I am VERY picky and demand performance - I have been on a QUEST to find the BEST BT Headset out there and I think I found my pot of gold.
The Nokia BH800 is unreal. Insanly small. It does not feel anywhere as cheap as the JX10. Earbud fits PERFECTLY and DOES NOT hurt my ear. Earbuds have been hurting my ear since the iPod headphones, but to my surprise, this headset is comfortable to wear all day long - no discomfort at all. I like to wear it without the included ear hook, since I always rock sunglasses in the car. I'm not saying I would go jogging with it in, but it stays put throughout my day. It is small, so "loss-factor" comes into play, but if you use the included neck strap (the correct way per the manual), it's going nowhere. Charging is easy, pairing is a cinch (currently paired to my LG VX 8300), and voice clarity is awesome on BOTH ENDS. It doesn't go the full "30 feet", but no BT out there does. It also comes with a carrying pouch to keep the headset and carry strap in. The only thing I would have liked to see in this price range is a dock-style cradle like the JX10, but the $180 I paid is well worth it for a BT this good. I wonder how much $$ I have dropped in gas back and forth to Best Buy???
So is $180 worth it for a BT this good? ...I would have paid $200.
I hope this helps someone out there make a good decision! God bless! -
"A bluetooth that makes sense!" on by jlabaw8216
Pros: Size, Comfort, Coolness, & guess what! It doesn't flop around on your ear when u move an inch!
Cons: No cons yet
Summary: we've all become victims of the bluetooth bug. trying to find that right fit, that right sound quality.. I've even rated them by how fast i can put one of those suckers around my ear. Well my friends the day has come, Nokia has gotten it right. No more buying the motorola garbage, pick up one of these featherweight champs and its a wrap. I've had this lil bluetooth for a week, and half the time i forget the cricket is in my ear its so dog gone light.. pick one up.

"I had over 10 headsets and this one finally got it right" on by freshyfresh
Pros: form,weight,design,volume
Cons: havent found any yet
Summary: i have had over 10 headsets and thank god they came out with this one so i can stop looking for the right one. All i have to say is just to buy and you will see the best. learn from my mistakes. the best thing about this is that you do not have to wear it around your ear with the hook attachment. its so light that it doesnt have a problem of falling out, and there is no jeel pieces for your ear that makes you get a headach after a while

"Smallest, lightest, best quality BT Headset around!" on by PCLou
Pros: Small, Light, Stylish, Great Sound, Fast Connect, Simple
Cons: Mute and volume control are a bit tricky.
Summary: I have used several other high-end BT headsets, and this unit is by far the best. CNET is mistaken in their review that the neckchain does not hold the headset securely (Note to the reviewer, Ms. Lee: You have to slide the unit down into the holder, closer to where the prongs come together, between the rubber portion of the handle). In fact, not only does it hold the unit securely, but the innovative chain attachment is incredibly secure, as well. When worn this way it looks like a fine piece of jewelry. Enough said about that. This unit is not only stylish, but also it's incredibly discreet. No big blue lights flashing out the ear. Only a tiny blue led coming from behind the unit. The sound quality is great with both voice and mono MP3 ringtones. I modded the earpiece portion with a Jabra clear gel insert for greater comfort and security. Talk and standby times are sufficient, and it charges quickly. Its range was also better then the other units that I've used. Can be worn in the ear for hours without discomfort. Highly recommended!!!!
Updated
If anyone has one of these units and feels that it does not fit them perfectly, here is an easy and inexpensive modification that works amazingly well. It only costs about 8 bucks to do and takes only a couple of minutes. The Jabra gel is the Jabra EarGels - Clear (43-2009), not the mini gel. You can buy them at Radio Shack and not too many other places. There are 3 different sizes in the package and for either ear. All you need to do is remove the rubber/silicone from the BH-800 and put the Jabra over the ear piece. It fits the ear piece perfectly and securely and looks like it was designed that way. I called Nokia and informed them of this mod, but I don't believe they are going to market it, so I wanted to let everyone know that a "perfect fit" is not only possible, but likely probable. The other benefit is, it literally boosts the sound clarity and volume by channeling the sound to the ear canal more directly.
As for the BH-800 playing music ringtones, this unit plays any format (MP3, wav, midi)music ringtones, so long as the ring tone on your cell has the correct properties to be played on Bluetooth headsets. Also, it works well with text-to-speech phones and voice commands.
Hope this helps. -
"Best Headset I Ever Bought" on by mdarmocida
Pros: Small, Light, Weight, Stylish, Functional
Cons: Ear Loop is mandatory to keep it from falling out
Summary: Having lost my trusty Motorola Bluetooth headset (which is large and bulky in comparison to today’s models), I was desperate to find a replacement.
The Nokia BH-800 was the only bluetooth headset that didn't look like a toy or gadget. Although Radio Shack's price of $179 was a bit intimidating. What sold me was when I held the headset in the palm of my hand. It is the lightest bluetooth headset ever! In fact, you can't even feel weight when you hold it, its like your holding nothing at all.
The performance was superior to the $100 Motorola that it replaced. It is easier to hear because of the in-ear head piece and it doesn’t swing off my ear when I rotate my head. In addition, the stand-by and talk time seemed equal to that of my bulky Motorola.
If you're like me and you like to maintain a corporate style, go for the black/silver model. It looks so much better than the toyish, gadgety Motorola I used to sport on my ear (and remove whenever I was in public because I was ashamed of it). Instead, the Nokia looks sleek and stylish. When worn on the around neck lanyard it looks like a piece of jewelry and actually accents my suit.
Although it adds more weight, the ear loop is mandatory as the headset tends to fall out easily without the loop to support it.Updated
Sorry to say that I must now update my review of this product. A couple of days after writing this review my headset stopped working. Apparently, the little button wouldn’t turn it on anymore. Luckily the unit was so new RadioShack agreed to replace it, lets see how long this one lasts.
However, the lanyard recently broke from wear and tear (apparently the upper part of the lanyard is made of metal but the part that must flex to accommodate the headset is plastic... what a poor design). After several frustrating hours with Nokia, I have to say that I can no longer recommend this product. It just isn't reliable enough and Nokia doesn't stand behind it.
In a nutshell, Nokia will neither replace, nor let you buy the lanyard. Futhermore, if you want to escalate your issue, you have to take it to Finland.
Now I remember why I stopped buying Nokia phones. I hoped they would have been a better company when it came to accessories (especially pricy $200 headsets with cheat plastic lanyards).
I I had the option to change my user rating it would be a "1"Updated
