"Best Headset I Have Owned So Far..."
Pros: Build Quality, Battery Life,Call Quality, Easy To Pair And Use
Cons: Difficult To Put On Ear, Mic Very Sensitive To Background Noise
Summary: Im a heavy bluetooth headset user and I currently use a Motorola E-815 and a Treo 650 and average 4,000 minutes talk time per month and I use a headset 99% of the time. I have owned many bluetooth headsets, mostly from Motorola though I have tried several other brands with no satisfaction since the inception of Bluetooth Headsets.
My complaints with bluetooth headsets have always been about poor reception, voice quality or headset fit.
I bought this headset as a interim headset while I waited on the Aliph Jawbone and I got it based solely on the CNET users reviews and this headset has excelled above all others in talk time and voice quality.
I have sinus problems and often my voice is naturally muted with headsets but when I left myself a voice mail with the BH-900, it sounded as though I was using my handset or a landline. I worked around Naval Aircraft for 20 years and have some hearing loss so I ALWAYS have to turn up the volume to max and sometimes press the headset against my ear with my hand to hear some soft speaking callers. For the first time I have found a phone headset that I have to turn down because it hurts my ear at near max volume.
Paring is also very easy with my phones. Just turn the headset on and the phone finds it. No holding a button until the light glows steady or any extra steps. It even makes the first phone you pair with it the priority connection so if you use multiple phones with the headset, you just turn off one phone and the headset switches to other paired phones (up to 8 one at a time), no muss no fuss.
The sliding boom mike is a wasted feature because the mic is so sensitive. I cant tell any difference between it being extended or retracted as far as voice quality goes and extended it actually rest on my cheek which is not good with a beard.
I do notice that when you are not speaking, the mic seems to auto amplify background sounds as if it thinks you are speaking softly but so far nobody has complained and people actually ask me if I have a new headset because it sounds so good and clear.
It is not an easy headset to put on and for me it requires 2 hands and my long hair makes the task even more difficult because of the fork like prongs of the clips catching my hair but the inconvience is handsomely rewarded once it's on your ear. No flopping around at all and it's almost too tight. My ear measures 3 inches from top to bottom so I probably stretch the prongs more than most but after wearing the headset a few hours it does hurt my ear but I think in time the fit will get better since plastic forks seem to be opening wider with use.
When I wear it on my left ear the buttons are easy to access and use. They could have made the volume button a shorter toggle or a rocker switch but it's more of a preference than a complaint.
Todate this headset has far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to any first time users because of it's ease of operation, functionality and use.
