  • "Very good yet not perfect."

Pros These fit well and seem like they will be comfortable for wearing for extended periods. The buttons are well placed and logically laid out. The headband seems quite sturdy and the hinges look to be durable.

Cons The adaptors that plug onto the end of the NOKIA proprietary plug could've hooked up to a dongle closer to the headset and the adapter plugs could have been attached to a longer cord. This would've put less mass at the iPod/MP3 player connection.

Summary As far as cost the price-point is lower than a less than comparable BOSE unit due to the BOSE lack of blue-tooth. The blue-tooth feature is the #1 selling point for these headphones. Along with the sound quality being top shelf. They are comfortable to wear. They are well made. The included case is near to perfection. The included hardware make these as universal fit as can be. The included cabling, while appreciated could have been done a little different. If I had to do over I would buy these again. I strongly recommend considering these for purchase.

  • "Close to the Bose product but it's Bluetooth..."
    on by Dick Dastardly

Pros Light weight, nice sound quality, plenty of controls on the headset. More than enough accesories for connectivity, durable case.

Cons Slightly loose fit. Non-bluetooth connection for music lesser quality sound.

Summary I had the Bose QuietComfort 3 headset until a friend borrowed them and left them behind in a hotel he was staying at (don't worry he paid me for them...lol). The Nokia BH-905 is almost just as good plus.....it's Bluetooth! I'm using them everywhere: iTouch, PC, Android phone, etc. Was going to still get another pair of Bose but the Nokia BH-905 may have just changed my mind. Have a slight problem with quality on non-bluetooth connections but have to find the right eq software to improve the sound quality. I know that they are expensive but I found a good deal on Amazon a couple of weeks ago for $199. Worth every penny!

  • "?symphony of sound and silence? Err no, not really"
    on by nicnacreviews

Pros Multiple connection points, build quality, none ANC sound quality.

Cons Poor active noise cancelling (no ?symphony of sound and silence? here) which in turn make them expensive, loose fit.

Summary I, like perhaps most people buying this product made the purchase expecting to have a huge reduction in ambient noise levels as indicated by all the advertising. To compare the sound quality of music playback I will be setting the BH-905 against my Motorola S805 headphones which convert the Bluetooth stream very well and can also be used corded and as a decent handsfree. The possibility of having something like the S805?s with active noise cancellation all be it at twice the price was something I was really looking forward to, and now after much waiting, I have them.

First Impression: Unpacking the headset reveals a quality component that feels solid and well put together. I was surprised be the compact size but the headband did seem to have a good degree of adjustment, also included was a charger, a single lead with 4 different connections, a 150+ page user manual (17 pages for English), a cleaning cloth and a heavy duty looking case that keeps headset and all the bits zipped up together.

First use: After the initial charge I adjusted the headset size to about half way and put them on to check the fit. The clamping force that keeps them in place is very light, too light for me. This headset sits on, not over, the ears like the S805 Motorola?s, there was no way you could strut your stuff with these babies on, indeed just laying on the bed face up was enough to have them fall off the back of my head. Standing with this headset in place did feel comfy if a little insecure, probably good for long periods of use - maybe sitting for hours clocking up the air miles.
Bluetooth pairing with my Iphone was a doddle just as it should be, yes I have limited function and control but that is no fault of the 905?s more to do with restrictions with the Iphone Bluetooth protocols, I still have play, pause, volume up down, call answer and end so still very useable. Sound quality is on a par with the Motorola S905 which I was very pleased with considering these where an on ear headset and not over ear headphones like the Moto?s.

So this was it, I then stopped the music and with an average 52db peeking at 68db (Decibel app (App store)) consisting of a little traffic noise and my two little herberts on the Wii and remembering the ?symphony of sound and silence? in all the ads I flicked the ANC switch (Active Noise Cancelling). What a disappointment, no ?symphony of sound and silence?, not even close, if I had put a figure on it then I would guess that this headset took about 10db off.

Verdict: Although the loose fitting Nokia BH-905 still cut out slightly more background noise than my snug fitting Motorola S805 over ear headphones I am still very disappointed, they simply do not deliver what they say in the ads - nowhere near. If however these are amongst the top Active Noise Cancelling headphones then I think that the application of this technology still has a way to go and the advertising needs to reflect this. I have been a Nokia fan for many years and still use many of their products (6280 plugged into a DT-1 for a bedside radio/alarm, a networked N95 for Ebay Imaging) and I hate so say it but this Nokia product was a big disappointment.

  • "Idiotic design"
    on by methos1979

Pros Audio quality is pretty good a far as bluetooth headphones I've tried. Build looks solid, top notch case/accessories.

Cons Just the most ridiculous design I've ever seen

Summary I'm certainly no audiophile and my source is crap (cell phone, Rhapsody). I was looking for a decent headphone for this set up. I've used buds and some cheap bluetooth headphones. These seemed promising. The work well and sound better than other set's I've tried but in the end I just couldn't get past the absolutely ridiculous design that have the headband sticking out like some sort of alien. They went back.

  • "Does NOT work with iPhone, worst customer support ever!"
    on by PavementPilot

Pros Great noise canceling technology Nokia licensed for this product the headphone portion.

Cons I hear the caller well, they can't understand me. The mic technology does not work! They are useless as a headset.Tthey will NOT refund. Horrible customer service. I'll never buy ANY Nokia product ever again!!!

Summary Useless for iPhone users. No idea what they work with, Nokia apparently does not know what products they work with.
