Summary: I walked into a Brookstone store in the ATL airport with my Beats headphones. I thought I was styling and profiling. The worker asked me to put on the Parrot Zik headphones. I was blown away. I did not realize that Bluetooth headphones could have such superior sound quality. The corresponding app is icing on the cake. It allowed me to customize my sound preferences with its seven band equalizer and more. I sat the phone down on a shelf, walked around the store, and didn't hear any degradation in sound quality. I then walked outside the store and about 100 feet down the hallway and still didn't hear any degradation in sound quality. I was amazed. I went back inside and found myself behind another gentleman buying the headphones.
I continued to my final destination and by the time I arrived the headphones had started acting up. Throughout my trip, I could not get the headphones to work for more than 15 minutes. With the touch technology, they would turn themselves off and on. And then off and on again. I was heated. I felt like I was taken for a ride. I couldn't wait to get back to Atlanta. I went back a few days and said I wanted my money back. Hold on. Let me take you back to my hotel when I was having problems with headphones. After hearing the Parrot Zik headphones and having problems with them, I pulled my Beats out of the bag. I couldn't listen to them anymore. They sounded horribly. I couldn't believe I had loved them so much. The Parrot Zik had spoiled my ears although I was taking them back. Anyway, I got back to the Brookstone store and was trying to replicate the problem to the worker. Of course the headphones were working perfectly now. The manager came by, asked what we were doing, and directed that I be given a new pair. She then said if I continued to have problems to bring them back to that store (I'm always traveling through there) or take them to any Brookstone. After receiving my new pair, I have had zero problems. I love these headphones. I have yet to run with them though. After going running, I will update this post.
These headphones are pricey but worth it. I wish they made them in white as white is my favorite technology color. The way that they fold makes for easy storage. I haven't had any issues with battery life but I'm only listening for a few hours at at a time maximum. But I like these headphones enough to where if needed, I'd by an extra battery for the website if I needed. The battery cover is easy to remove to replace the battery. The downside to that is if you put the headphones in a back with lots of loose items, the cover could come off. I recommend keeping the headphones in the soft carrying case provide.
In summary, I am only comparing the Parrot Zik headphones to the Beats Pro headphones. The bluetooth Zik headphones have superior sound quality over the Beats wired headphones. Oh, I forgot to mention that the Zik headphones also come wired but I have only used them with bluetooth. One way to improve is to make them in different colors but I suspect that the company's clientele is not the younger crowd that follows Beats. Another way to improve would be to put the touch technology on both sides of the headset vice just the right side. But I have issues. I did go into the Bose store afterwards to try out their bluetooth headsets and there still was no comparison to the Ziks. None at all. The workers in the Bose store even admitted that the Ziks were better than any bluetooth headsets they had. In my humble opinion, this is the top of the line bluetooth headset on the market today.
