Plantronics Explorer 340

Summary: I bought mine over 2 years ago when they sold for $80+, and have been satisfied with it ever since. I vastly prefer it over my other headset, an Aliph Jawbone 2 that's caused me nothing but frustration. At $80+ the Explorer 340 was a good solid headset that I've been very happy with for 2+ years. At current prices under $25 it's an outstanding value!

Summary: First off, I'm a field tech for a major telecommunications wireless company. For this reason, I use my blue tooth 8-10 hours a day 5 days a week. I use it indoors, outdoors, in noisy environments, quiet environments, you name it.

My Plantronics Voyager 510 had just died, and I was looking for a cheap replacement. (BTW, the 510 was the best piece I had tried to date). In comparison, the 340's battery lasted 3 times as long. I could go 3-4 days between charges, vs the 1-2 days with the 510. Fit was strange at first, but now it's perfect, and I forget I'm wearing it.

At first, call quality was excellent both ways, just like the 510. But then I got OUT of my truck. That's when hell began. No way, no how is ANYONE going to understand a word you're saying unless you're in a sound free environment, such as a newer car or quiet office environment. I've been using it a month now, and inside the truck, great. However, whenever I get out, the phone is once again stapled to the side of my face. For this reason, I've picked up another bluetooth, and tonight will get a chance to try out my new voyager 520 WITH sound cancelation.

If you're the type that works in a quite environment, and wants an excellent cheap piece, this is it. If you work around noise, have kids, or wear it outside of your vehicle, then you'll need to upgrade to a device with sound cancelation.
